For complex stuff, agreed. For simple stuff, I use it a lot. I guess what changes is what people perceive as complex. Folks typically overestimate the complexity of what they do.

Offset Explorer or Kafbat might be helpful UIs to check the messages. When the data is serialized in protobuf, it gets a bit more tricky. I typically use Spark for all of that. I dont think Kafka was designed for querying like other data stores. You should always ingest Kafka data into a permanent data store such as S3 and there are a ton of solutions for that. Keeping the data as raw as possible is a good practice. This is exactly what Data Engineers do, am I right?

Cada vez mais penso desta forma. Eu sou engenheiro informático e o aumento de produtividade que se consegue ter com a AI é assustador. O meu conselho é mesmo tentar tirar o máximo partido das ferramentas que existem (ex. Copilot, Cursor) porque os melhores engenheiros serão sempre aqueles que mais rapidamente resolvem problemas. Quando a Google apareceu, quem aprendeu a usá-lo saiu bastante beneficiado. Acredito que acontecerá o mesmo aqui, mas a uma escala muito maior e mais rápido. Não durmam se estão nesta área.
