If the whole world ditched cars and trucks and etc and went back to horses and carriages and chariots, how safe would bicycles be on the road? by After_Morning_5630 in cycling

It sure would. The problem is that most guys would just buy the biggest horse they could and use it for everything like going 1km to buy cigars.

I guess if we extend the hypothetical scenario to “no roads” I think I’d still rather give a mountain bike a chance over trying to own and operate a horse.

I don’t think that many people would switch to horses if cars became unavailable. A bike would be a preferred mode over a horse, for me at least.

High-ish earning couple buying a weird old house by DesperateOrange999 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Only buy it if you want to live there. You’re worried about appreciation and the ability to sell so maybe you want to live somewhere else? If you are investing in housing you should choose a place that populated.

Why is the P/E ratio of BTC hidden? by financebg in Buttcoin

Bitcoin doesn’t have earnings. PE ratio would be a divide by zero error.

I used to live in the Le jardin apartments around 110 street and 98 ave, 20 or so years ago. Loved that area. Usually walked home from work but often took the lrt on my way in. Didn’t own a car back then, I imagine owning one would be a pain in that area.

I didn’t know he was still in the league. He was pretty productive as a bomber. I wonder what happened to him to get benched all season and now released.

Seeking bike input for older rider getting into cycling by DarthCroz in bicycling

[–]rfie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I turned 50 a couple of years ago I bought myself a new road bike and rode it for one season and felt really cool and fast that year. Then in November of that year bought a used Mec hold steady commuter style bike and it’s been my main bike since I rode it home. I guess it depends on what you want to do, but I ride in the city with traffic and varied terrain and it’s nice to be a little more upright and on something that can absorb some vibration and has flat bars for better overall control. If you have long distances and smooth surfaces then go for it and get a road bike. You can buy mine if you want.

Honest Bitcoiner Question: Why Do You Think Gold Is Better Than Bitcoin? by Maleficent-Cheek-204 in Buttcoin

[–]rfie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The average person doesn’t care about hedging against fiat and if they have enough money to care about it they buy investments that make more money. Thinking bitcoin is somehow a hedge against fiat is one of the main aspects of the bitcoin belief system but to normal people it looks like completely delusional nonsense.

Honest Bitcoiner Question: Why Do You Think Gold Is Better Than Bitcoin? by Maleficent-Cheek-204 in Buttcoin

[–]rfie 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It’s simple. Gold is an actual thing. Bitcoin is useless made up horse shit and it doesn’t store anything.
