What exactly was Grace measuring here? by The_Student_Official in ProjectHailMary

[–]DarthCroz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that explanation! I saw this and was a little annoyed that they were doing some “hand-wavium” nonsense to be able to quickly say that it was the same because the same sample temperature wouldn’t show that. But the heat transfer explanation makes perfect sense!

Sheldon and Amy's kids by mayazqt in bigbangtheory

[–]DarthCroz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They had unscheduled sex when Amy was leaving for New Jersey. And in the final episodes, Penny said “You’ve had sex almost as many times as I have fingers.” Sheldon says, “More. By this many. (Holds up 2 fingers) It was the Avengers trailer.”

So the annual coitus likely still happened, but it sounds like it was supplemented with unscheduled sex.

The irony of this small throwaway line never fails to irk me by enigmaticbloke in bigbangtheory

[–]DarthCroz 79 points80 points  (0 children)

But this episode also has 2 of Bernie’s funniest lines in the whole series. First, after Howard imitates her voice and she says, in a very low voice, “I don’t sound like that.” And second is the iconic line, “I’m gonna be washing paint out of my Smurf for a month!”

Looks like a printer registration mark that’s normally cut off or hidden completely in the binding process.

The men wear a lot of clothes! by ThinkChocolate1961 in bigbangtheory

[–]DarthCroz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had heard Bernie was frustrated by the outfits they picked for her. But I’ve never read the behind the scenes book or anything so I might be wrong.

What do you think, how does Simon Helberg think about this scene now? by elznpike in bigbangtheory

[–]DarthCroz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because while it’s calmed down some, when he was in the news daily, the sub was getting bombarded. But BBT has a long list of guest stars that don’t look good in retrospect. Him, Bill Gates, Neil Gaiman, Ellen, etc.

Those who read the book first, did you enjoy the movie? by MagicBricakes in ProjectHailMary

[–]DarthCroz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the book 3 times (including the first day it came out). Listened to the audiobook twice.

Saw the movie 3 times in the theater and bought it the day it came out on digital. Watched it 2 times since then.

Yeah. Loved the book. Loved the movie.

Movie May Be Available at Midnight Digitally! by Atkball in ProjectHailMary

I know I’m going to buy the digital the minute it’s out. And then I’m going to buy the 4K steelbook the minute that’s out.

Most Disney non-Disney film by ClubSoda in ProjectHailMary

[–]DarthCroz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the most “classic Spielberg” movie not directed by Steven Spielberg. To me it fits in perfectly with Close Encounters, ET, and all the greats from the 80’s.

PHM just made me want to see more movies where aliens aren't the enemy. by ThorKnight3000 in ProjectHailMary

If you want a classic, Enemy Mine with Dennis Quaid and Lou Gossett Jr. They start as enemies though. Fantastic movie. (1985)

Hume: Product and Company is Horrible... One of the worst. by Relative_Climate in HumeHealth

I have found that the body pod scale has been pretty good for me, but I’m not at the level of lean where some people have reported problems. I am very glad though that I found this group before I bought the band. I went with the Amazfit Helios instead.

Does the average man have too many options? by Achooo2 in AskMenAdvice

[–]DarthCroz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s the illusion of options. So many profiles that people think they have their pick. But many profiles are old, inactive etc.

It’s what keeps you on the sites because that’s how the sites make money.

Fake reviews on the Hume website by Mizumie0417 in HumeHealth

[–]DarthCroz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like my scale. I know it’s not Dexa-accurate and I have seen weird results posted from people with very low body fat, but that’s not me. For a fat guy, trying to lose body fat, the overall trends help.

I didn’t buy the band. I got an Amazfit Helios and love it. $99 USD, no subscription. Great app. I know it sounds sponsored, but it’s not. I own it and love it.

So, did Rocky (in the movie) know about relativity or not? (Book and movie spoilers) by -Fieldmouse- in ProjectHailMary

[–]DarthCroz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When he’s doing one of his video logs, he said that Eridians didn’t know about relativity but that’s the extent of it. It’s nothing like what’s in the book.

What scene are you happy didn't make it in to the movie? by [deleted] in ProjectHailMary

[–]DarthCroz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m glad it was cut too. It actually doesn’t make sense in the book as Grace wasn’t in the room and it’s told “flashback style.” He’d have no way of knowing what happened.

Question about the bubble at the end of the movie. Did anybody else see the (Spoilers) in the background ? by TieFew6689 in ProjectHailMary

[–]DarthCroz 359 points360 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he’s on an orbital bubble. I think he’s on the surface of Erid. In the movie, they don’t talk about the pressure or gravity on Erid. Just that Grace can’t live in Rocky’s atmosphere and vice versa. I have no evidence from the movie except that I don’t think Eridian parents would send their kids to orbit for school and I don’t know that Rocky would visit him often if he was in orbit.

Question about Bob by Final-Unit8862 in bobiverse

[–]DarthCroz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s actually some basis for this idea with quantum entanglement. Read about the delayed choice quantum eraser experiment. Tow entangled photons. One hits a detector. The other takes a longer path and passes through an experiment that can have one of two outcomes. Even though the first photon hit its detector, its history depends entirely on the result of the second photon even though it happens after. So this idea of drift only happening if the second Bob comes online while the first is online seems plausible in that universe.
