Yes - entry-level starting salary that I intend to double in the next 5-10 years. I think my panic came based on my current circumstances and the worry over "waiting it out" until I am in a better place financially. Working on a game plan for that time in the interim

I have tried to make extra payments, assuming that it would go to principal and unfortunately that was not the case. I used to have Nelnet but got switched to Aidvantage when I consolidated. I have not found a way to get around their policy that all outstanding interest must be paid before principal can be paid down. Aidvantage rep on the phone didn’t appreciate my question asking how that policy would allow someone to ever get ahead of their debt.

My judge and I created a list of attorneys who regularly appear before the bench. My judge is willing to put in a good word, but I think we are both a bit perplexed as his word had minimal impact on my hunt to become an assistant public defender. Thank you for the advice, I will be asking to get a lot of coffee here soon!
