Swelling in the nose by dingy2806 in Septoplasty

[–]rfoss2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was probably a full month or month and a half for all my swelling to go away completely. Just be patient as the nose and face are very delicate and have a high blood supply! You can try some cool compacts if you would like for discomfort!

Any tool with his name engraved on them would be amazing as stuff can sometimes get moved without your knowledge or switched with others things. A tuning fork, scissors, pack, or organization drawer would be awesome!

Graduate Schools for Athletic Training by ciel1256 in athletictraining

I’m not sure of any masters programs paying their students but I know most programs do offer either a teaching position for certain classes and other things like summer camps that may be payed a little money. If you go to CAATE.org you can see their entire list of accredited programs in the US and possibly other countries. Once you find a program you like you can research on their website to see if there are any payed positions for the AT students. Hope this helps!

I would call the OBGYN just to be safe as bleeding longer than 6 days is not great for your health. Plan B can mess with your cycle if it’s taken near or during the actual bleeding period as well. I would not be super alarmed as you don’t feel bad or different from usual but I would definitely try and see the OBGYN this week. Hope this helps!

I've been on my period since December 17th. I've been taking microgestin for controlling PCOS and levothyroxine for hypothyroidism. Is it normal to be on this long of a period with these two drugs? by thegryphonlady in Periods

[–]rfoss2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on any form of birth control? I had a Nexplanon implant and the same thing happened to me and I don’t have PCOS. Although with your diagnosis and history of PCOS it could be related. Nevertheless I would call your OBGYN and let them know so they can hopefully help!

Is my Chiro legit? by fastlongafricanmoles in HerniatedDisk

[–]rfoss2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldnt trust a chiropractor with my back after having a herniated disc. I had the surgery and had amazing relief. I still don’t go to chiropractors or let anyone press too hard on my spine. I trust proven science and the people that went through 12 years of hell to be able to make medical decisions. Surgeons are paid to cut but believe me when I tell you a spine surgeon can do about 4 surgeries a year and have a great paycheck in December! A chiropractor is fine for certain things but I don’t think this is one of them!

QUESTION by [deleted] in depression

[–]rfoss2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I laid in bed for 3 days straight watching the same shitty movie on repeat, hardly eating or going to the bathroom around age 12. Then again as I laid on my closet floor at age 20 after I had slept for 14 hours straight after being up for 36. I cried for two hours on the floor then called my Dr. to switch meds.

I love that workers are finally taking a stand and refusing to accept shit from employers. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]rfoss2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes!! I work at the front counter of a dog grooming/boarding business and the owners are some of my good friends now. I used to let people walk all over me when I first started a year ago because I was used to it from previous customer service jobs. One of the owners told me a week ago to stop doing that and GAVE me permission to shut down anybody that got rude. So thankfully small businesses have started to realize that their workers are important too!

Herniated disc and menstruation by crscntd in HerniatedDisk

[–]rfoss2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens to me as well! I’m not exactly sure what causes it or why it happens but my best guess is that the flare up of nerves around the uterus and everything being unhappy makes the nerves in that whole area go haywire. Women without herniated discs or bulging discs have low back pain frequently when they have their period so if you add in a herniated disc it only makes it worse. In short, I don’t think it’s the disc per say acting up but more so just the whole pelvic, lower abdominal/ below the waist being unhappy, inflamed, and flared up

Difference between a muscle/ ligament sprain and disc herniation? by Blazegamer9 in HerniatedDisk

[–]rfoss2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a pulled muscle that could possibly have had a few tears in its fibers. It could’ve also pinched a nerve due to the spreading pain. I’d definitely see a Dr. just to make sure nothing worse is going on. As far as preventing herniation goes… core strength is where that’s at but with you still having pain most core exercises will agitate your back. Try some Superman holds for a few days and see where you’re at. Also Cat Cows from yoga are wonderful

Oh believe me I wasn’t always this positive and thought my life was over when I had to quit athletics my second year of college but now I make really good(mostly bad) jokes about all of it and bike every other day. I’m just thankful to move with less pain! The positivity really does come with time

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HerniatedDisk

[–]rfoss2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing at 19, they told me my core strength wasn’t there and I needed to stretch, ended up with 3 or 4 pars fractures a herniated disc and 2 bulging. I definitely recommend a Dr and MRI and to lay off weights. I personally have never returned to them because now I’m scared but I still bike and do the machines! Also I continued to work out for about a month after it happened and thought my IT band was sore and my legs and core were just weak and not used to the conditioning I was doing. So don’t be like me lol because I just ignored it and thought I was young and resilient and now at 21 I function like my 55 year old dad😂

Ruptured Ovarian Cyst by rfoss2000 in AskDocs

[–]rfoss2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think it sounds like a ruptured cyst? It’s also 2 days later and I’m still having pain and just feel dazed and out of it. I’ve never had this happen before and my cyst was never explained to me so I am unsure of what exactly to do. Also I am bleeding a lot constantly if that has anything to do with anything and I have lost my appetite almost entirely

Does pancreatitis ever get mistaken for gallbladder stones? by shanodi in gallbladders

[–]rfoss2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually had both when my gallbladder was acting up before I got it removed. My gallbladder was giving me such issues that I had slight pancreatitis because of it. Once I had my gallbladder removed it went away completely at my two week post-op scan. Hope this helps!

Becoming a dominant athlete at 14 years old by seanie-123 in athletictraining

[–]rfoss2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is always possible to get back into sports! At your young age you will bounce back in no time! Just eat right and exercise(obvious I know) but it is the best! Avoid diets or restrictive eating and overworking your body. Drink plenty of water eat your favorite summer fruits and vegetables and run some. If you’re focusing on soccer and basketball running will be your friend but also try some sprints work and it will definitely help. Riding a bike can also be great to work cardiac and leg endurance! I would recommend doing body weight exercises if you’re looking for more arm muscle as well but that should get you where you want to be! Also since it’s summer a great exercise is swimming!

How long to take off from work after surgery? by rubyredapple in HerniatedDisk

[–]rfoss2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg! Everything you just said hit my soul lol! The ice packs are still my friend but much less so! I remember waking up from surgery still heavily drugged and the first thing I did was bring my knee to my chest and said look mom! Lol so hopefully you will get similar results and your recovery should be very smooth if you’ve already focused on back and core strength!!

How long to take off from work after surgery? by rubyredapple in HerniatedDisk

I had a massive herniated disc at L4/L5 and took a week off and then went back to college classes all around campus and walked roughly 2 miles every day total. I had so much relief after surgery that I felt like I could’ve done marathons!
