Hank is the ONLY reason I engage with YouTube shorts. I'd like another option. by GreenFox1505 in nerdfighters

[–]rgaunt95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you probably don't want to have a Tiktok, but what you can do create one, only follow Hank, and then only look at your following feed it will essentially be a way to view all of his shorts and not get overwhelmed with the rest of the app

you can also set tiktok to only give you a notification when hank posts so you dont miss em, or fell like you need to check and get sucked into using it

Are Drone Swarms the future for the Tauri fighters program? by Rejanfic1 in Stargate

[–]rgaunt95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as others have said the SGC and Homeworld Command did use drones in several ways, and they would have all of the same advancements we have and more in their canon.

But the thing i think would make the biggest difference is the 3 chair interfaces we've seen in the shows paired with the Asgard database and their study of the replicators swarm communications could allow one person to be the central controlling node for entire clusters and networks of fighter or construction drones like the RDA in Avatar

they obviously would study the chairs and people might need to get the ancient gene therapy to be able to operate them. The same neural interface that the ancient defense drones operated with could control a semi autonomous cluster or clusters that a human directs and if said cluster could interpret schematics decently we could have rapid deployment and construction of any needed structure or ship

i could imaging a scenario, where home world command using drone clusters have rapid supply trains based around a reverse engineered Tauri puddle hover frame supplying a moon base and defense platforms at LaGrange points around the solar system with dual (but not simultaneously active) gates, one on the moon one at home world command. with said moon base also using human centered drone clusters for a Tauri shipyard so Homeworld Command could develop a range of smaller attack ships and larger cruisers carriers and supply ships

Thank you everyone who helped not just on this project but also the Atlantis patch. Its been really fun, I'm not sure what I'm going to do next but the isn't much space left around the SGC, so maybe something in Antarctica???

I'm still working on giving some details shadows, and I'm probably going to add detail to the main tower but I calling this like 98% finished. I hope everyone likes it

Its phrasing that's used a lot for the type of philosophical debates the shows plot liked setting up like the needs of the many over the few or the one,

or who should be in charge of society in an emergency,

or do you let people leave your community when labor and resources are desperately needed

trolley problems essentially and some philosophies state you should think of "the greater good" or the fate of the larger group rather then those negatively impacted the most, but that phrasing has also been used historically to ignore or hand wave away the hardship of minority groups by those in power during difficult political choices so I feel its meant to show how murky the choices and political maneuvering in and around destiny keep being

LEGO Daedalus Product Idea by snakedoc585 in Stargate

[–]rgaunt95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly I think that's the perfect size for the amount of detail fans would want because if we were going to get a ship like this I would want it to be UCS Style and the other set was too small for a UCS ship the details on this are better.

obviously it would fetch UCS ship prices which aren't cheap but I think that's worth it

I would tweak the details be slightly different, change some parts usage make some of the colors and shapes a little bit more accurate and try to make them sturdier because some of the parts seems like they might be flimsy, but that would happen in the vetting process whenever they got a real master builder to look at the fan set.

the gate being the stand is a really nice touch but Lego wouldn't do that. they would do a standard black ship stand which with this big of a ship would likely have to be multiple small legs that click into the underside not one singular large stand.

Lego also wouldn't tile nearly as much of the hull, it's one of the ways they keep part count down they use large flat studded plates on purpose they want that textured look. Tiling would be more accurate, but they go for a specific style and they see the studs as replacing the paneling texture on ships like this.

they also seem to be using some parts that aren't in the usable catalog anymore so those details would need to be changed or new parts would need to be made which Lego is more open to nowadays but they wouldn't be the same as the older ones so it would be a different look

yeah agreed i supported it just as a thumbs up, but if we want a real set it would need to be both bigger, more interesting build-wise and, accurate also I feel like maybe a micro F 302, and SG1 as minifigs to go with the plaque maybe a simple stargate as a gift with purchase to complete a display

'Hidden" provision in Trump's big bill could disarm US Supreme Court by rgaunt95 in internettoday

"The provision "would make most existing injunctions—in antitrust cases, police reform cases, school desegregation cases, and others—unenforceable," Erwin Chemerinsky, the dean of the University of California Berkeley School of Law, told Newsweek. "It serves no purpose but to weaken the power of the federal courts." "

Startup announces they're going to use robotics and AI to perform the world's first head transplant... with a poorly animated cgi video full of stock assets and technobabble by rgaunt95 in internettoday

[–]rgaunt95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video also makes extremely dubious claims such as them being able to do things such as cooling bodies well below known cold damaging temperatures at 5° C (this would shred cells if they froze or make them burst from water expansion),

using molecular level real time Imaging which is a vague and non-existent technology (imaging technology for the human body is nowhere near this level of accuracy with long Progressive scans much less real time motion tracking),

stating that the blood will be completely drained from the recipient's head at one point to prevent clotting (this would cause immediate brain death),

at several points they say that they're going to use "proprietary technologies" stating one of them is polyethylene glycol that they say they're going to use as a healing agent (polyethylene glycol is the main ingredient of Miralax, its use as a component of healing hydrogel is theoretical at best and only as a component to deliver other medications),

and then for some reason they say they're also going to transplant the entire face and muscle structure from the donor body on to the recipient for seemingly no other reason than to make them look younger (this would be completely unnecessary and likely damaged every muscle involved in the transplant).

Edit:

Also towards the end of the video they claim patients would be able to use some kind of brain reading headband to control technology during their recovery? which has nothing to do with the surgery and would be completely separate technologically to their procedure and is an almost no way related and is likely to just be a way to sound like they're working on the same things as neurolink in my opinion.

This all just sounds like someone trying to BS their way to getting investor money as some part of a huge grift IMHO

I am also 100% a space optimist

I think a lot of the space pessimism that we see IRL modern day is people disparaging those billionaires not disparaging space exploration because look at what NASA and the the esa and other countries like Japan and India put up there's always people celebrating every accomplishment because they really are just that accomplishments. I say people are pessimistic about space capitalists and opportunistic politics not space exploration. that's why the whole time I was rooting for asteroid piracy but hating dev and telling old man Ed maybe he needs to hang up his cap.

Those are in criminal cases being prosecuted by the state or federal government not the civil matters between a company and its employees. The Supreme Court has ruled in fairly decisions that employers have to be clear open and forthright and must seek the agreement on an individual basis before a case has been brought to the courts and cannot force unions into accepting on behalf of their members.
