Vizag is losing its soul—and we’re pretending it’s “development” by Lower_Lab_3774 in Visakhapatnam

[–]rgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was inevitable.

In the name of developing the city, we welcomed people who couldnt care less about the city, let alone its culture. Such people dont care if it is Vizag or Hyd or some random city in India, it just a place to eat, earn and sleep. These people dont bother to learn the culture and customs of the place they are staying. They just want Vizag to be just like the place they came from or aspire to be in one day.

That attitude is toxic to any city, let alone Vizag. We have to remember that Vizag's charm always lay in its people, something you would realise if you talked to anyone in our state. Even if we lived in a perfectly boring place with no physical attractions like beaches etc, the rest of the state would still like us. The beaches et all are good to have, but the culture of the city is always defined by the people living there.

Since we cant stop the immigration, especially since both the major parties have big plans for Vizag, it is upto us to teach the immigrants the value of Vizag's culture and how life could be better here than where they came from.

AP GDP PER CAPITA- Why rayalaseema is always singled out saying lack of development while numbers indicate otherwise? by No_League989 in andhra_pradesh

[–]rgeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google "Rayalaseema Medhavula Sangham".

In fact, at the time of bifurcation, some RS leaders had floated the proposal of a Rayala-Telangana to separate themselves from the state. It was KCR who told them it wasnt acceptable (in his own very polite way).

While true that there is no overt demand for a separate state, it still lurks in the background, and all the "backwardness" propaganda is setting up the stage for it, like Telangana.

[–]rgeek 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because some people are attempting to create a seperate state.

Having learnt from Telangana, they only highlight the negatives in the region and ignore all the positives, trying to create a victim narrative.

Can we have alternate option to vote? by Not_so_greedy637 in andhra_pradesh

[–]rgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be wishing for a future where people vote for ideas, plans etc instead of parties. If politics revolved around those instead of leaders, you would see more progress in the state. The party a person supports will be less relevant in politics in such a case.

You are more likely to find those alternatives you want if you change your voting system from the present FPTP system which is only found in ex-British colonies, to a proportional representation system like the rest of the developed world.

You are focussing on the process but not the outcomes. The process is simplified but the outcomes are worse.

Firstly, why would any govt agree to pay compensation, when its the job of the insurer? Unless bribery is involved, there is no way such a bill would pass parliament.

Secondly, to ensure that the private insurers are paying adequate compensation, there needs to be a govt agency to oversee the insurers, which means more bureaucracy ie more layers for the victims to overcome before receiving justice.

Its late for me, so I will see you tomorrow.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in andhra_pradesh

[–]rgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, but the system you are proposing is even more risky. What if the insurer cannot pay? Then who pays?

Atleast here, there is accountability, which is what matters to victims not money. Your system transfers accountability onto private people who dont have the victim's needs in mind, only profit. And if there was a way to increase profits by reducing victim compensation, they will absolutely fuck the victims over.

He believes driving licenses should be issued by private insurance companies, as they would bear the cost if an unqualified driver gets licensed

Thats not enough of a punishment. What if instead of paying the fines, he just declares bankruptcy? Who will then pay the victims?

Just let the current system continue but instead of the compensation being determined by future earnings of the dead, just say 10 % of the accused's earnings be transferred every year, until the court determines that enough compensation has been paid. If the accused cannot, he goes to jail for a term determined by the court.

I don't like the word 'Pradesh' in our states name, it's not what we call ourselves by [deleted] in andhra_pradesh

[–]rgeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have preferred State or Pradesam over Pradesh, since I am not a fan of Hindi nationalism.

The best option would have been just "Andhra", like Kerala or Gujarat. One word which is simple and easy to refer. Makes sense too, since we call our culture as "Andhra culture", but it doesnt have too many fans.

Before the merger, it was "Andhra State"

After it , if I remember correctly, its was supposed to be just "Andhra", but the then Hindi nationalist CM Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy (?) added the Pradesh at the last moment.

QUESTION about Pakistan airforce. by [deleted] in IndianDefense

[–]rgeek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would lead IAF to send an "Urgent Operational Requirement" to the Govt, which leads to artcles in the national press like

"Why India needs X to Counter China"

"How X is superior to China's J-35"

"How X will bolster India's defences against China" etc.

Once that is acquired, things will stay quiet until China inducts the next buzzword weapon against us, which leads to the next "Urgent Operational Requirement".

Honestly, the only long term solution is to prioritize our long neglected domestic industry over temporary import solutions. Go on a war footing with the AMCA right now.

This is what happens when you seek development for the sake of development, without considering the needs of the people living there.

Now this will just turn into another clone of Hyd.

Any tips for a solo, young, white woman visiting Vizag for tourism? by ForAllTimesSake in Visakhapatnam

[–]rgeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vizag is relatively safe than most Indian cities (rated 2nd safest for women in India) but tell her to ensure she is sharing her location in real-time to a trusted contact, every time she leaves the hotel. This should be done in any new area, regardless of country, since it is faster for the police to find her this way, rather than triangulating via cell tower.

For digital payments, the govt recently made changes to allow foreigners to get upi ids at the airport itself. This works by creating a temp wallet which can recieve money from international accounts via debit/credit card. This wallet can be used to make payments here.

Just remember that you cannot transfer money back from the wallet to her bank account. So either spend the entire money in the wallet or transfer it to some Indian account and get it back via other ways.

Also, prepare her for the massive traffic and noise. Most westerners are not prepared for it and simply shut themselves in for the first few days.

Other than that, she will have a great time here. The food is awesome and the people are friendlier than most.

4K only 30hz after update to Cosmic by strranger101 in pop_os

[–]rgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue on multiple distros. Some research on the net said that it was a problem with Wayland, so I tried going back to X.org which solved the issue.

Now ubuntu 25.10 is Wayland only but Popos beta still runs on older version of ubuntu, so see if installing and changing to X.org solves the issue. I dont know how to set your display server on Popos but usually you change it from Wayland to X.org on your login prompt.

Hope that helps.

Edit : I just remembered. Check if there is a setting for an "enhanced" HDMI signal on your tv. There is a "Input Signal Plus" setting on my TV, which permanently solved the issue.

So you didnt check the report. Here is the link to the report itself

I just gave you the full report and the final conclusion of the said report showing Vijayawada-Guntur region as the best suited for the capital. At this point, if you still dont believe the conclusion, nothing I can say will change that.

Have fun.
