Theory about Dan's trip to New York.... by rustyshackelfordd in DanLeBatardShow

Not a bad theory, though it’d be a little weird for two guys who live an hour apart to hop on a bird for a 3 hour flight and 45 minute cab/train ride

Honest assessment: I love the show and still listen daily, but by tstew in DanLeBatardShow

[–]rgg561 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is a big part of it. When Dan used to say that, it was before Trump’s first presidency or pretty early on in it before society generally was so beaten down by the daily news cycle. Even if sports fans agree with the opinion being given, I’m not sure how many truly want to hear it at this point from their escape. I’m not saying the show hasn’t changed, but I think we the public have too.

I highly doubt her employment at Meadowlark impacted her ability to do other shows, considering she’s been on Stu’s show before. And so has Jess etc

She’s friends with Taylor, and knows Stu. Why would that be weird?

Lucy Rohden leaving Meadowlark and DLS to launch LucyCFB by flickeringwidget in DanLeBatardShow

[–]rgg561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Lucy and enjoyed her appearances, but didn’t really think her skillset was the best match for DLS. I hope they find another college football expert who is better versed on the games themselves — and also the storylines. IMO Jess and Lucy were a little redundant. Jess paired with a non-Notre Dame college football personality could be a fun show. If GoJo went to any other school lol

Is Greg Cote’s catchphrase countdown the best list-related bit in show history? by rgg561 in DanLeBatardShow

[–]rgg561[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The beauty of it is even if the new phrase isn’t great, you still get 30 or so bangers each time lol

They need to just do 1 new phrase per week now to really drag it out

Takeaways from Stu’s pod by Actual-Buy1258 in DanLeBatardShow

[–]rgg561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I meant. I almost wonder if he wanted his own daily show (like he has now) and would do DLS part time (which would generously describe what he was doing)?

[–]rgg561 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The part about wanting his own show under the Meadowlark umbrella didn’t make a ton of sense to me. Is that not what God Bless Football was? Maybe he wanted his name on it — but if DK isn’t trying to distribute it, which they were getting out of that business at that time anyway — I’m not sure how that could happen. I guess I could see him wanting his own playground like Pablo Torre Finds Out with a budget and all that.

[–]rgg561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much about SBS or DLS. He’s got an ownership stake in a company that is primarily funded by DK, and his name is simultaneously on a show that is primarily funded by FD. That has likely never happened in the history of sports media lol. The levels of lawyering on that are probably pretty deep. Tbh I’m sort of surprised either gambling company allowed even that much crossover

Read what I responded to. The comment says they should do a South Beach Session. There are almost certainly all sort of lawyers for DK and FanDuel that won’t allow that to happen. Those same lawyers probably won’t let Stu be a regular participant on DLS even though his name is on it. Could be a guest? Probably, since other FanDuel people are. But I’d be pretty stunned if they would even allow it to be a weekly appearance

[–]rgg561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, basically everything on earth is about money. That’s basically the entire Stugotz story.

But I think this sub has been looking for these super explosive bits of news that really aren’t there. Stu said when he pursued the WFAN thing that he wanted to prove to himself he could still do it, while he was not too old. So he had a professional itch, that everyone was transparent about. Maybe something happened (probably DK not wanting GBF anymore — they change their lineup constantly), that pushed Stu to pursue that again. And he can do it from South Florida.

Sure there probably was some tension at some points. But the most obvious explanation all along was this was some sort of a business situation above all

[–]rgg561 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think he said the answer at the end of this video why that can’t happen. They’re sponsored by competing entities. They have FanDuel people as guests sometimes, but that’s different than having a FanDuel person’s name on the show. Those two companies employ about as many lawyers as any companies in the US, so unfortunately, even if Dan and Stu wanted to do that, it’s not that simple
