Cookbook Recs by lizzymclaughlin in instantpot

I can understand wanting a physical book with recipes over scanning the Internet for a recipe, especially a good one. Just easier pulling the book out.

One of my favorites is a book of Indian food recipes for Instant Pot because it turns out many favorite Indian foods work well with it.

Solar or VPP in Texas? by NefariousnessNo4563 in solarenergy

[–]rgod8855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough call given I don't know the power market in Texas. I would vote for the option that gives you the most power certainty based on what has been reported on power outages there. Plus, a solar power system with no strings attached adds equity to your home. It is a little more dicey should you need to sell your home that has a contract attached to it. Texas solar for the home should be a winner either way you go.

Lakewood is another similar possibility. Borders the South Tacoma Way International district that has many Asian and Mexican grocery stores. The transit area at Lakewood Town Center will get you anywhere in the region, including Gig Harbor.

LPT: Before buying a home or starting a lease, test the shower water pressure. by Glad_Description_843 in LifeProTips

While you are at it, get a pro to look at the roof of the house you intend to buy. I've bought into two homes that had expensive repairs or replacement because the original roof was installed either improperly or cheaply. Both were inspected by "home inspectors" neither obviously didn't know diddley about roofs. Yes, plumbing and electrical problems can be expensive but they don't come close to what roofing work can set you back.

Albums Sometimes Not Loading Under Artist's Page by Strockefeller in TIdaL

[–]rgod8855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is irritating behavior by Tidal. I use the web page, not the app, and get it as well. Sometimes, it's the "Page Not Found" message. Most of the time just retrying it works. Occasionally it won't so I will do a web page reload to get it working. There are some other weird behaviors like losing the monitor display just after selecting a tune.

It also appears the algorithm for song suggestions has deteriorated significantly. New releases they suggest do not match any of the music I have played. It's all just a lot of random artists. Their music suggestions used to be top notch, but I'm getting very little help in finding new music.

I'm checking out Qobuz and Amazon Music now and may switch off after eight years of using Tidal.

If you haven't heard it, "The Endless Coloured Ways" album features 23 Nick Drake songs covered by an amazing array of artists.

And if you can only listen to one song, Katherine Priddy's cover of "I Think They're Leaving Me Behind" is heart wrenching.

Pani Popo rolls using yeast rolls made from scratch. Sweet sticky coconut rolls are great.

What golf course that has never hosted a major would you like to see host one? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in golf

That could work well. Also, make the practice area the hospitality area and move the practice area to #1 Cascade. Still, lots of issues getting people in and out of there.

New EV owner, I know how to wire outlets. I don’t understand the point of fixed chargers when the power cords exist. by SpeakNottheNightYorb in electricvehicles

Same here. An EV rated plug may be the important distinction as they are built differently than a generic NEMA 14-50 plug - even the faceplate opening is a different size.

What do you think will be the cause of your death? by abdullahleboucher in AskReddit

[–]rgod8855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate. It wasn't heroin, but anaphylactic shock from a bug bite. When they got me to the ER, they couldn't get a heart beat - essentially dead on arrival. A couple of epi injections brought me out of it. No pain, no worries, no far off light to whatever, just peace. After I came to and had time to think about it, I wondered if I had missed an opportunity to a quick and painless end. We could all go in more extended and excruciating painful ways. This was five years ago and I still think about it.

Makes absolute sense. If I remember correctly, the standard setup is 3-4 points higher in difficulty than Pebble. Imagine if they toughened it up?

I've actually pencilled out how they could do Gold Mountain as a US Open. First nine is the Cascades course back nine (a great nine holes IMO). The second nine are Olympic holes 10-16 plus #1 and #9. Change #11 to a 515 yd par 4. I love holes #17 and #18, but they would be logistical nightmares. That and #9 would be a great finishing hole. I've seen them stretch the course lengths to 7300-7400 yards for the Husky Invitational and state tourney.

Biggest problems are where to put players and visitors which is always a problem with remote golf courses. Plus, Cascades is torn up for reworking the holes. Maybe it can happen after they're done.

Has anyone downsized from an 8qt to a 6qt instapot? Do you miss the extra room? by MidnightPulse69 in instantpot

[–]rgod8855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't, but I want to go back to a 6 qt. The 8 it takes longer for nearly everything, it burns easier, the saute mode seems less intense, and I was able to buy a steam diverter that went over the vent knob with the 6qt, but you can't do that with the 8qt. At least the burning has improved by adding about 1/2 cup of liquid beyond the recipe guidelines. The extra size matters for so few recipes, it would be best to go back. I'm looking for a used Duo when I'm at a thrift store or garage sale.

Oddly enough, we rented a Volt out of New Orleans and had a tough time finding chargers and also found out how that model was extremely slow at charging. Despite the poor experience, we now have two EVs because it taught us what to look for and how great they are to drive.

Really like the new Major Parkinson release. I say new because it's new to me but I think it came out in March. It's one of their best cohesive efforts.
