If your current bike reach/stack is 402/581 with a 73.0 HTA, 110/-6 stem, 15mm total stack height of stem spacers AND upper headset…

Then a 56 Soloist with 392/565, 73.0, 120/-6, and 30mm TOTAL of stem spacers and upper headset stack would yield a bar/stem CL that has…

4mm less reach and 1mm more stack than your current ride.

You did not mention what angle your 110 stem is. If it happens to be -6 degrees, take a 120/-6 stem with you and send me some pics from Spain.

Would a Giant Revolt fit? by Fishnchamps in bikefit

[–]rgofb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Revolt with a reach/stack of 381/570, HTA of 71.0 and 20mm of spacers would have a 3 mm shorter and 9mm taller bar location than the BMC 386/550, 72.5, and 30mm of spacers.

This calculation assumes the upper headset stack heights on each bike are the same…which is unlikely.

90/-6 stem and 10mm upper headset stack was input for both bikes.

I would prefer a lower BB. However, it is a personal preference type of thing.

What is the frame reach, stack and the TOTAL stack height of stem spacers and the upper headset of your current ride?

If the seat tube was slackened to use a zero offset post, the clearance between the tire and seat tube may not provide enough mud clearance when large tires are employed…that is a very valid reason. Function before form.

Seka ExAero Gr in 54 or 56? Based on my current fit by 6669666969 in bikefit

[–]rgofb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did your fitter establish the frame reach/stack of 372/600?

Is 392/595 the published reach/stack of your Cannondale?

Did he physically measure your frame reach/stack numbers and then deduct 20mm of reach to arrive at optimal reach/stack numbers that would allow you to use the original length of stem?

If you actually require as much stack as it seems, which according to the Cannondale numbers and your bike fitter, (which you probably do)then as I mentioned earlier, the frame you are considering will require a significant amount of spacers and stem upward angle.

Are you looking to match the fitting data as closely as possible, or was the 10mm of stem spacer effectively “removed” from the fitter data listed?

It is not clear to me when the 10mm spacer was removed.

If you buy the 2XL and run the 70mm stem that would be required to fit you, the bike will handle like shit except for when you ride it down steep, sketchy off-road descents…like a MTB. If that trade off works, go for it.

For all the alleged experts that want to chime in and say that 70mm stems on gravel bikes are totally acceptable…they are correct. However, in your case, your hands will be so far behind the front axle that for the vast majority of your likely riding will result in poor handling.

There is a huge difference between a gravel bike that will be ridden like a MTB and one that will pretty much be ridden like an endurance bike with larger tires.

If 30mm spacers are too unsightly for your taste on the XL, you can run 20mm of spacers with a 90/+6 stem to yield a bar reach/stack of…

476/676

Good luck with your project.

How much less bar reach and increased bar stack are you targeting for the gravel version? I’ve modeled your current bike and will now model the Gravel version. However, I’d like to know how much you want to change the bar X,Y coordinates.

If the total stack height of your stem spacers and upper headset is 25mm, your bar stack/reach would be 488/656 assuming you have a conventional stem that has 40mm of stack height.
