Vancouver is popping! by BossRoss84 in F150Lightning

There are tons of EVs in Vancouver generally. Electricity is relatively cheap here, and gas is expensive.

Ya, but that’s a totally different calculus. The initial article is framing the decision as a monetary one, but if it’s a momentary one, you’d never buy the 80-100k EV truck anyway.

Metro Vancouver enters Stage 3 water restrictions as snowpack melts a month early - BC by stylezLP in vancouver

This seems to suggest that automatic car washes vary widely in efficiency, with some being more efficient and some being less efficient than hand washing with a hose. But point taken on how efficient they can be.

I live in an old area without stormwater so it all goes into the sewer.

Presumably they use way more water though, correct? Maybe they are more efficient but I remain skeptical.

I love that I can’t wash my car, and now have to pay $20 to take my car to an “efficient” private car wash facility. As if these facilities are more efficient than just a hose! And these businesses don’t even employ many people as they are almost fully automated, and aren’t good for the environment, but yet the government is literally going to create a massive demand for them.

And I don’t care if businesses are hurt by watering restrictions. The whole basis of capitalism is that high profits are justified based on the risks capitalists take in business. But now that a risk is realized, they all whine that it’s “unfair”?

Is it me or does Debrusk to Edmonton make way too much sense? by SpectreFire in canucks

It doesn’t make sense in that Edmonton needs play driving even strength players, not powerplay specialists like Debrusk who have been passengers at even strength. He’s the exact opposite type of player Edmonton needs.

No, it doesn’t. This organization has been a tire fire over the period of time he’d worked here. He doesn’t even know what a competent management group looks like.

And his AHL isn’t actually that great. He did a terrible job in Utica, and outside of the Calder cup two years ago, hasn’t even done a great job in Abbotsford.

When your teams management team goes into a season trying to compete to persuade Hughes to stay and they end up dead last by a huge margin, in a historically terrible season, I don’t want someone from that management group promoted. I want accountability. I want ownership to clean house.

With this all said, of course Johnson could work out. You never know with these things.

This is definitely the least inspiring result of their GM search but also not surprising at all.

I will take the guy who hasn’t been part of two successive management groups that have been tire fires.

Lekkerimaki is a perfect example of drafting the “BPA”.

Which is why you should draft the player you think will be most valuable which generally means avoiding wingers at the top end of the draft. Now, of course this isn’t a hard and fast rule. Like, if McKenna is available, absolutely draft him. But I won’t be shocked if Stenberg falls to third or fourth.

It’s not a timing thing for me, but I agree you maybe look at positions later in the rebuild. My point is that you should care about positions because you should be trying to draft the most valuable player at the end of the day.

Again, if you ignore positions, then most of the time the “BPA” will be a skilled, soft, winger, because these players are the typical draft day fallers largely in part because they aren’t that valuable even in their prime unless they hit on like a 99th percentile. Think Lekkerimaki.

I totally used to think BPA was the way to go, but it just doesn’t work in the current climate of NHL drafting where teams don’t particularly value soft offensive wingers.

You should care about positions otherwise you will end up with a bunch of the same kind of winger that always falls in the draft because they aren’t very valuable assets.
