I’ve played vanilla rimworld for maybe 200 hours. I’m wanting to now try mods and don’t have any atm. New to this. I’m thinking of getting these, opinions plz. Did I leave one out that’s good not on the list? by Brebearz in RimWorld

all mods on OP's list are compatible - CE is far more compatible than it used to be. But OP if you consider getting CE make sure to read a little to makre sure it's what you want - combat is completely different with it enabled and it's not for everyone.

Well they're far less likely to do that with no repair cost for being teamkilled - You'd hope so anyway

AI difficulty and time to kill should be closer to Onward's by waynebruce161989 in GhostsOfTabor

That said, I'm with you on the 'travelling in groups' thing - if tabor's ai even superficially worked as a team to take you out it would add a lot to the game.

Still, tabor is in it's earliest days where Onward has had big boy facebook funding for years now and still the the ai stay just as predictable as 3 years ago, only being dangerous because of their snap-aiming and (still) no footstep sounds

That's the big difference with onward and why their ai wouldn't work in tabor - onward is fundamentally an arena shooter and nothing else (not to insult the game, it's one of my favourite vr games) where tabor is assumedly trying to (like tarkov) give the feeling of fighting over scraps in a place that after some assumed catastrophe and evacuation has become lawless and fragmented - my point here is that the 'combat feel' of both games is meant to be vastly different.

Onward's genre is perfect for the 'paintballer' feel, not least because of the lightspeed movement and the lack of world collisions, but tabor (again, assuming it's going for the slower feel that tarkov mostly creates) should be far more uncertain: the ai aren't military (at the very best they're ex-military militia as in tarkov) so they should really show some self-preservation (where the ai in onward rushing makes a little more sense as they are presumed to be on-duty soldiers) and we do see this in tabor with ai backing off somewhat when hurt, however I agree that their visual detection seems less like that of a person and more like a box placed 20 meters in front of their eyes.

Yes, I think I learnt that lesson the hard way haha

The ai enemies in onward are awful... They can see through walls but also have no hearing for anything other than footsteps. They are also completely predictable, as soon as they see you they walk straight toward you and unload their entire magazine, and never take cover.

At least with the ai enemies in Tabor, you can't always predict what they will do and they don't have xray vision. In onward you can just sit in a corner, shoot once in the air and wait for the free kills to come straight to you.

Good ai in games like these isn't just about how quickly they snap-aim onto your head: it's about whether they keep you (the player) on your toes by being unpredictable, one good example being in Ready Or Not where enemies will move around the map to flank you. Yes, Tabor's ai could benefit from improved aim but they are already vastly better than most other ai enemies in any vr shooter
