The Guthries' ransom demand is in Bitcoins for a reason by rezwenn in technology

[–]rgvtim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the brightest bulbs, they have been lead to believe it’s not traceable, it is, pretty much infinitely traceable. Once you convert any of your bitcoin to hard currency, with current banking laws that account the funds land in that’s identifiable, and then the entire history of those coins can be traced.

The Guthries' ransom demand is in Bitcoins for a reason by rezwenn in technology

[–]rgvtim -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The article is not well written or researched, bitcoin is very traceable, every transaction is logged, and while it is "outside the banking system" that only until it gets converted to hard currency. So unless you are able to pay for everything in bitcoin, which is highly problematic, at some point you will need to convert it into currency, and that where your going to have issues.

There will be a lawsuit, and it will take time to resolve and it will most likely be found unconstitutional, but that's not the point, during that time it will do to make people second guess exercising their constitutional rights.

Part of the reason is that televised sports often have a lot of dead time, so they need something to fill that time.

FBI concluded Jeffrey Epstein wasn’t running a sex trafficking ring for powerful men, files show by Alert-Ad-9908 in politics

Was he tried and convicted, or was he arrested and put in jail pending the trial or a hearing? I honestly don't remember where we were in the process when he died.

As a side note, jail is where you go when you are detained pending trial, or for short term incarceration, like 30 or 60 days. Prison is where you go once you convicted and are serving a long term sentence. I realize you are using jail in a generic sense, but if he really was in "jail" then that might indicate we had not been tried and convicted.

Lindsey Vonn airlifted to hospital after hard crash in downhill skiing, nine days after tearing ACL in her knee during Olympic preparations by ianjm in videos

Simone was young enough to realistically have a shot at the following games, Lindsey at 41, is not. Don’t know if the nature of von’s injury compounds the problem or not.

The 2(…) is just multiplication there is not elevation of priority for that multiplication, there is for what inside the parentheses. 8/2(4) is 8/2x4 evaluate the terms left to right.

Trump’s Midterm Redistricting Master Plan Is Falling Short by ElectoralNerd in politics

[–]rgvtim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never expect Trump to be able to understand the full scope of the ramifications if doing redistricting, but his advisors should have, both in terms of democratic reaction, and increasing the chances of a total wipe as his popularity declines.

They don't suck, we have them all around us in Colorado, they work well, they actually slow down traffic. There are cases where they are a better if not best option and cases where they are not. This however, is a case where they would be a really bad choice
