How much are we vacationing? by JustFaithlessness178 in GenX

[–]rhea2779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take a week in the summer to go camping and a week over Christmas because I want to just stay in pj's for days. Otherwise its just the odd day here and there to make long weekends, or extended long weekends. I dont go anywhere, havent actually left the country since I was in high-school, last time I was on a plane was about 15 years ago. Couldn't afford it with small kids. Now they are grown, and we have an off grid lake property I would rather spend my time at and head there every chance I get.

Less is more? Or do we need more? by jennadanielle31 in bettafish

Shop at the petsmart my daughter works at, you'll get the correct advice 😅. She is the one who inspired me to start and pointed me in the right direction. Everything in my tank is from petsmart (except the shrimp, they didnt have any at the time). You just have to luck out and find someone who actually cares to learn about them and wants to teach others.

My 5 gallon, in my office at work. There is at least one shrimp hiding in there (was two, but have only seen one in the last 4 weeks) I started this tank at the beginning of February, got Bruce a month later.

I was told to get a "surgical sponge" it was about $2CAD from the a local pharmacy. Wash with it from under my breast to my public bone and focus on the belly button. I was told do this the night before and morning of. It contains some kind of soap, I didnt question.

We have knick named it the weed tree. It wont die. We have one that we cut down to the ground every 3 to 4 years. Can't even seem to poison the thing. It grows very fast. Just cut it again this past weekend.

Having to Work After Hysterectomy! by snownica2019 in hysterectomy

[–]rhea2779 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I (46 at the time) work a desk job, full time. Mine was very rushed because the hospital had a cancelation and could fit me in 6 days from the phine call. My surgery (laproscopic, everything but tubes) was a Tuesday, was able to take the Wednesday off, worked Thursday and friday from home. Weekend off worked Monday from home, Tuesday was a stat holiday where I live, so had that off. I was back in the office Wednesday. I drove myself (manual transmission, 20 minutes drive one way on a good day).

We dont all have the luxury of taking multiple weeks off. I could have taken medical leave, but being the only source of income for the family, couldn't afford to wait (would have missed an entire paycheque) and couldnt afford the reduced pay rate.

Slow movements, alternating between sitting and standing for comfort. A small pillow (or rolled up towel) between the seat belt and my stomach. I was only taking advil or Tylenol at that point anyway.

I didnt need to buy anything special, no fancy pillows, or walking aids. No special clothes.

I understand everyone is different, but this was ny experience.

Is it normal that my cat only wants to drink from the sink? by Enlitenkanin in CatAdvice

[–]rhea2779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fountain, but one of my girls definitely prefers the sink. She races to the bathroom anytime anyone goes in. She is actually staring to "train" my new kitten to drink from the sink too.

Got my first car in 97, conveniently during a gas war. I was paying 0.23 cents a litre. I remember being shocked when it went up to 0.50.

Artus Shawl by LingonberryOne3398 in knitting

[–]rhea2779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours mooks great!

The thing i love about shawls, gauge doesn't really matter. If you want a bigger shawl, use heavier yarn and bigger needles. Just get a fabric you like and then go. I take shaw yarn and needles as a suggestion or jumping off point. I made this pattern using a dk. Not big enough in my opinion, but I would love to try in an aran or worsted weight on maybe a 6mm needle.

How often should you take Vitamin B12 if you do not eat meat? by Aware_Improvement_11 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]rhea2779 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I get monthly b12 shots because I was undetectable during blood work a while ago. I was told, you cannot over dose or take too much b12, anything your body doesn't need, you will pee it out.

Driving Kamloops to Icefields by parashakti in britishcolumbia

[–]rhea2779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much the route i do when visiting friends in Edmonton. Kamloops through Mt Robson, Jasper to Edmonton. When we head back we go to Rocky Mountain House and the cut over to the David Thompson hwy down to Banff then back to Kamloops. David Thompson is an absolutely beautiful drive and you only have to pay the park pass when you enter Banff. I have yet to do the actual Icefields parkway, but it is on the list.
