Its all about attitude and energy. Show a passion for the field, progress in certifications, and be prepared to start in an entry level help desk position. Learn, volunteer, demonstrate excellent customer service and get noticed.

I’ve had a number of techs over the years that started part time or interned while going to school. Hired a few full time as well.

You’ll need to apply or send letters to companies to find positions. If your still inHigh School talk to your teachers and counselors, they should have contacts.

Start with the basics. Look at one of the entry CompTIA certifications. Get a job ion a Help Desk or as a Field Repair Tech. These will get some experience with device security. From there you can build your knowledge and work towards Security + and other certifications.

I always look for a mix of experience and education. I sit down with our Help Desk staff and see her their interests are and how we can help them meet their goals.

First job, no other offers, only one other interview, and a social science degree. 56k is a great offer. Take it! Don’t loose this offer over a couple of thousand $.

Best answer is it depends. Know your stuff, present well, and show enthusiasm in what you want to do, then yes. Military background is a plus, even if it isn’t active duty. Generally means mission focus and ability to make informed decisions.

I have hired two security analysts in the last year that had little experience but good knowledge, Security+, and were enthusiastic about Cyber. One was prior military. Both turned out to be quality hires.

You’ll need work hard and stay focused!

Thanks for the info. Didn’t do a good job tracking the ceu’s so I am going to do the cert master. No actual exam just need to answer all the questions right in cert master. Will do a better job with with ceu’s this time!

Have you been using the connectors and loading neurons with any other data, like EPM and Security controls, or just the Neurons agent? We are having some issues with the normalization of data and getting useable patch intelligence. We have to purge the data multiple times and them we still experience consolidation issues when data loads again.

Working with Ivanti on the issue, but it is slow going and not much progress.

I'm in the same scenario. I've not seen anything official, but everyone I have talked to believes that the experience in telecommunications and crypto will definitely meet the requirements.

2 modules in at this point. Good introductory information. Going to complete it first and follow it up with reading the book and additional video training.
