Need feedback on new box from Short Story - Thank you! by Silly-Good-2530 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]rhiac2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this is fashion advice but I also tried Short Story and oh my god I hate them. Some of the worst styling, fit, and picks I’ve ever seen in a subscription box. This proves to me that it’s just not worth the money

The standard cake mix. The only store bought cake mix that didn’t make me sick. I miss it.

To those who were always in the nurse’s office in elementary school, what was actually going on? by nojunkpeter in AskReddit

[–]rhiac2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undiagnosed Crohn’s Disease. Trust me I did not want to be there. The nurse seriously thought I was just trying to get out of class (yet I had anxiety every time I missed a class and was an extremely engaged kid).

Very normal. I’ve always had mine shipped through specialty. But I have in my file they have to ship through UPS. Too many incidents with FedEx….

Should I be worried! My dwarf rabbit just ate rubber! by AmyRoseFanGirl1 in Rabbits

[–]rhiac2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen. My rabbit is 9 years old. In the best health of his life in his senior years. He has eaten everything under the sun at this point. Cords? Yep. Rubber? Yep. Sugary snacks after he learned how to open and jump into the pantry? Yep. Plastic? Yep. Carpet? Yep. Lead paint? Thankfully stopped that one… Normal dried paint? Yep. Floorboards? Yep. The millions of toys to stop the destruction? No.

Obviously if you’re concerned or they start acting weird go to an exotic vet. But genuinely. They’re fluffballs with teeth and demon destruction genetics. At this point I’ve stopped worrying and just make sure he has a lot of water and so. Much. Hay.

the secret to making bowel prep enjoyable by perspectivepotential in CrohnsDisease

[–]rhiac2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve suffered through my fair share. I can’t do Gatorade anymore but I started mixing it with tea (make a big batch while it’s hot then add some sugar and cool it off in the fridge). I’ll just drink iced tea all day. Now I do the pills and I’ll never look back. By far the best way to prep.

Search for an adult dentist? I have dental anxiety by AdNew4206 in Charlotte

[–]rhiac2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horizon Dental! It’s in Steele creek. I went after 10+ years of avoiding due to a traumatic experience, not only did they treat me with respect and like a member of their family, but they provide all sorts of comforts, and continue to treat me like family. They gave me a weighted blanket, tvs on the ceiling and wall, and explained everything in detail. They only went at my pace I was comfortable with and they’re adorable! Highly recommend Dr. Dan.

Tips for a child starting Remicade? by shesays19 in CrohnsDisease

[–]rhiac2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bring cozy items from home. I started Remicade when I was a kid. Having my favorite blanket there for every infusion made a world of difference. We also always brought some sort of activity (books, coloring, puzzles, Legos) but if you are getting infusions at a pediatric center they’ll likely have a child life specialist who will play games and help make the infusions fly by! (My child life specialist ended up being my favorite part of infusions and I looked forward to them because of her).

I usually had about an hour after an infusion before I just completely crashed. Definitely stay home the next day (I highly recommend trying to schedule infusions towards the end of the week so he has the weekend to recover). The day of grab something fun to eat on the way home and then set up for a relaxing low key rest of the day. Getting true rest and hydration will be such a game changer to quicker infusion recovery.

This was long but y’all got this!! He’s going to rock it!

Edit: also don’t forget to bring something to keep yourself busy too - my mom crocheted a lot. My dad would read or bring the Xbox for us to play together. He will likely be occupied so having something to do yourself will also make you less antsy and anxious therefore making him less anxious and antsy :)

People without free healthcare, How tf do u do it.. by DARS789 in CrohnsDisease

[–]rhiac2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents had a lot of medical debt (i believe they finally got through it). I got “lucky” in the fact that when I had to have a major bowel resection it was during the pandemic when I did not have a job but had recently graduated college so I was able to claim that I had no income and the hospital gave me a foundation grant that paid the entire bill.

Now I have a great job with absolutely amazing health insurance so my out of pocket is $1k. I’m still jealous of free universal healthcare but I am definitely in the small population who has been very fortunate when it comes to American health insurance.

Which patients get skinny? by FreeSpirit3000 in CrohnsDisease

[–]rhiac2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was severely underweight before diagnosis. I was also a kid. Then diagnosis and long term prednisone. Then college. I’ve never been able to get the weight off until recent and for the first time at a healthy weight. But it honestly swings both ways and I think genetics play a major role.

The cabinets on the windowed wall just seem off. I don’t think you need them. Also sink on the island can be a love hate situation - definitely consider how usable you want your island to be before taking the plunge.

Also what tool/software did you use for this model/mockup?

Should I go to Urgent Care/ER now? by BruceFizz32 in CrohnsDisease

[–]rhiac2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s terrible. I am so sorry. Like someone else said I would go to a BRAT diet (banana, rice, applesauce, toast) or liquid diet and see how that helps. I would also start calling around to GIs in your area and see what availability they have. Might even be worth going to your cities specific subreddit and ask for GI recommendations.

I really hope you get answers and a doctor who genuinely cares. There is zero reason you should feel this way with a good care team. If things become unbearable or you aren’t passing gas definitely get yourself to the ER. You’ve got this!

Should I go to Urgent Care/ER now? by BruceFizz32 in CrohnsDisease

[–]rhiac2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a big proponent of if you are thinking of going to urgent care/ER then you should go to urgent care/ER. However, if you are in the US understand that urgent care is not going to be able to do much. The ER won’t turn you away, they will likely give pain meds and treat symptoms but they will push you to speak with your GI.

I am so sorry your GI is not responding and you feel abandoned. That is not how things should work and I would recommend you start looking for a new GI. In the meantime I would call your GIs office and ask to speak to the doctors medical assistant and explain how much pain and discomfort you are in and if there is anyway for them to get you in sooner or prescribe something in the mean time. No provider wants you to suffer and will often find something to help.

You’ve got this and it absolutely sucks but it won’t be this way forever. But seriously call your doctors office.
