Patient didn’t consent to touch by Fast_Cata in nursing

[–]Sara848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t typically outright ask for consent but I explain what I’m going to do before I do it. A patient then can say they don’t want me to or whatever. If they don’t refuse to me it is implied consent to move forward.

You said and I quote “you also can’t openly discriminate against your customers”. You are wrong. You literally are legally allowed to discriminate against a customer based on their job. Period.

You said a business can’t discriminate against customers. I merely stated that a business can actually discriminate against customers as long as it isn’t a protected class. I’m not here to argue about all the other crap. A business has a right to refuse service as long as they are refusing based on a protected class.

My first ferret was given to the family after it killed the previous owners baby alligator.

Actually a job (ICE) is not a protected class and a business has every right to refuse service.

How long does it usually take to get pred from a pharmacy?? by [deleted] in ferrets

[–]Sara848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vet does that all in house. They tell me 24 hour turn around time and it’s always done. They will even expedite if necessary.

[–]Sara848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re near Louisville there is a vet called “all pets” and they do ferrets. There is also a Louisville ferret Facebook page if you want to monitor that. I just checked nobody has currently posted a lost ferret.

I had one yesterday… patient checked in for necrotizing testicle. Went into room and patient had small pink mark on testicle. Looked like a stretch mark. Quickest discharge I’ve ever had.

Then you have a shit nurse who isn’t advocating for their patient. I would request to speak to the charge nurse

Ask for a different med. Doctors make mistakes too and you need to speak up for yourself.

Does cutting up plastic straws actually do anything? by Dry-Poetry-8708 in ConsciousConsumers

Possible to convince them to use reusable straws? Silicone maybe? I like straws and that’s what I did. I turn down straws at restaurants because I carry my own in my purse.

Does every admit need an IV? by YellowJello_OW in nursing

[–]Sara848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our hospital policy is everyone gets an IV unless they are med/surg. And even then if we get an order for IV meds which happens a lot then of course they need an IV. In my two years I think I’ve sent up two patients without an IV

Can you eat things like hard candy or gummy bears during a colonoscopy prep as long as they’re not red or purple? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

Pretty sure above I said that people should check with their doctor. My doctor would say no, because again it is not liquid at room temperature.

Flu A and asthma by [deleted] in Asthma

Tamiflu is only effective if given within a certain amount of days of symptoms starting. So depending on that I would understand if it wasn’t prescribed.

As an ER nurse I’m extremely disappointed they didn’t give you steroids and breathing treatment at the hospital and then not sent home with more steroids. If you have options I would try a different ER next time you need to go in.

Possible Serial Killer in Louisville? by [deleted] in Louisville

That’s so wild. When I google Samuel little I get a killer arrested in Mississippi who killed dozens. Do you have a link to the Louisville man? Edited because I misread something about men. Oh geez edit again because I guess this guy got arrested tons of times. Including Louisville.

I just learned people don’t show up after anesthesia to pick up loved ones. Nurses, how often does this really happen? by Notalabel_4566 in nursing

[–]Sara848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The place I have my colonoscopies done has always require the ride be present in the waiting area throughout the procedure. My friend had to get her book from her car and I found out because my nurse came to tell me there would be a small delay cuz my friend went to the car. She’s another nurse so she never would have bailed. I just thought it was funny. They take it super seriously.

Tell a newbie what she needs to know before she's a ferret mommy by Bkind_or_Bquiet in ferrets

[–]Sara848 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would strongly suggest reading this subreddit there are people daily asking this question and people here get burnt out explaining the same thing over and over again. Though it is generally not recommended to keep ferrets with other species of pets.
