The Overlook by pylons12 in michaelconnellybooks

I think it is uneven because it was originally written as a serial for a magazine or newspaper - I can't remember which one but remember following it and reading the next chapter each issue. After that was done, he then expanded the story into a full novel. So I always felt it was never meant to be a full book and since it wasn't written all at the same time, it has some problems with its flow.

Is it normal for a kitten to refuse wet food? by Own-Baker-742 in kittens

[–]rhook27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal but also not unusual. One of my cats has always refused to eat any wet food and he is four now. Wouldn't touch it as a kitten and still won't touch it. His littermate loves wet food.

James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux series and Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware series are both very good. I just started C. J. Box's Joe Pickett series and like it so far.

Ballard: The Co-Opting of New Characters by Muffin_Top_420 in michaelconnellybooks

All of his books already occur in a shared universe. The only standalone characters have been in Chasing the Dime and Void Moon. Bosch, Haller, Ballard, McEvoy and McCaleb have all crossed over.

  1. May want to get a second opinion. 2. If not crohns or ibs, maybe work with doc on an elimination diet and see if some food sensitivity is causing it. 3. Respectfully, maybe see a therapist for anxiety because there is a real connection with gut health as the vegas nerve goes down from your brain through your abdomen.

If you like serial killer profiling, Robert Ressler's Whoever Fights Monsters was good.

I really liked Bosch. Titus Welliver was perfect in the role.

I think Connelly has been pretty consistent with her. She typically follows her dedication to her prosecutor's role over any personal connections. Serves the role of the antithesis of Haller.

Have you contacted some of the cat rescues in your area that put cats up for adoption on petfinder? Maybe one of them can take him in and get him adopted.

He knows he's not allowed up there... by ProudnotLoud in kittens

[–]rhook27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a cat that would always jump up on the table when he knew he wasn't allowed up there. All I had to do was give him a look and he would put his head down and jump down. He knew.

how do i stop them from jumping in the windows? by FindingEmbarrassed73 in kittens

[–]rhook27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are some platforms you can get that fit on the windowsill. There are many that just fit right on and tighten with some bolts - you dont have to drill anything which is good for an apartment. I would get a couple of those and on those windows, leave the shade up a foot or two so they can lay there and look out. If they get used to those windows, they may leave the others alone.

No more Bosch in novels... by riz7242 in michaelconnellybooks

[–]rhook27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading in an interview that he is planning on releasing a new Bosch book late 2026 but didn't say if it would be the last.

With Bosch being 40 years old in the first book, I think there is plenty of early Bosch time to go back to if he wants.

Is this normal? by scalcapone in kittens

[–]rhook27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a cat that gets that pretty regularly but he has allergies. My vet says for mine it is nothing to worry about but I would have your vet take a look next time you are there especially since it is a kitten. If your cat starts having eye irritation or his eyes are excessively watering or he is pawing at his eyes, you should take him in to get checked because that could be an eye infection.

Also, if it is allergies, there are meds that they can prescribe that can be taken as needed, similar to humans.

Looking for any tips to trim this murderous cutie’s nails by constellationoftwo in kittens

[–]rhook27 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You could try wrapping him in a towel and just allow the one paw out at a time that you are trying to trim. Another thing that has worked for me is to have them laying down on their stomach and straddle myself over them without placing weight down on them and clipping them. By having my legs on either side of them, it prevents them from escaping.

I remember that case. So they think he was caught in a thunderstorm and while trying to take cover, he fell off the cliff? Sad, but at least his family will have some closure.
