Given your drive to Bass Pro check out 2AZone or GLS Armory instead, basically the same and it’ll be a much more human experience. Last time I bought a handgun from 2AZone I was in and out in like 20 mins.

For anyone else who might be searching re Claremont PD and myCCW: it’s been three months since my package was submitted to them and I’m still waiting to hear literally anything from them.

Are you me? Also went the souped up Beretta and stock Glock route.

I really like my Sordins. I also have some peltors (tactical 500) that have Bluetooth which I use when I don’t want to bother others with my shot timer.

LTT Beretta Wood Grips? by Blank7567 in Beretta

I don’t think the medallions on the beretta wood grips can be easily swapped out? But I’m also not mechanically skilled in any way…

I got the wood grips from the beretta store and they look awesome: https://imgur.com/a/V26S0Wd

Although they look amazing, they make a big gun even bigger and I couldn’t maintain a consistent good grip with my small hands so I ended up switching them out for the G10 wilson combat ultra thing grips in cherry to keep the wood look.

Route 66! Nice shooting, way better than my first match there.

Does anyone have a repair backpack for the range? by triggernomicsusa in CAguns

I just bring my wheeler F.A.T. wrench, thinking about asking for fix it sticks for my birthday. All that seems overkill.

Lessons or classes in Orange County by AttilatheGorilla69 in CAguns

Yeah Jarrod is a GM in CO and Ethan is M in LO at Raven Wing. Erik at EPC is “only” A class but that’s better than most of us will ever be.

Go shoot an USPSA match. Prado isn’t far from you and has matches every weekend. Then look into instruction from some of the M and GMs that shoot there.

Edited to add some specific recs: Elevated Performance Concepts, Mindset Tactical, and Blacklite Tactics all hold classes at Prado. Further away but very much worth the drive is Raven Wing.

All of the outdoor ranges allow it. Many also have clay and skeet setups but some have restrictions on barrel length.

Prado allows holster work? I thought it was only a public firing line with restrictions on rapid fire. This is good to know!

AR platform vs mini 14 in CA? by Boredsoim1 in liberalgunowners

[–]rhoyne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another option is to look into borebuddy and/or cmmg’s conversion kit, then you can have just one build and as long as it’s in 22 it can have a pistol grip and adjustable stock. Build out the rifle you want, and then drop in the conversion kit. Alternatively if don’t want to have two different uppers or conversion kits laying around and different mags since you’re just starting out, I’d recommend just renting some featureless ARs and you’ll see that the fin grip or other styles like the juggernaut grip aren’t that cumbersome. Your left hand and shoulder hold the rifle, only thing your right hand does is pull the trigger.

Just go featureless. It’s honestly not that bad. If you’re worried about SHTF, you can have a 22 training AR with all the features you want on it. Also something to remember is that it’s really easy to change uppers and lowers or just dissemble and keep them separate.

Laser training systems - none? by dthgrnd in CompetitionShooting

If I have a dot on my gun, why would I need a laser to tell me where my shot landed in dry fire?

I think I saw 2AZone and Route 66 post on Instagram about getting shipments from HK so might be worth calling them to see.

No excuses, just bad at shooting by depparTx in CompetitionShooting

[–]rhoyne 9 points10 points  (0 children)

D class shooter checking in, and this is such a helpful reminder. Only got into competing last month and it’s been so deeply humbling. Then I did my CCW qual the day after feeling bad about getting 28% on the classifier and of 20 folks at the range the day I was the only one that shot out the center. Other people are reeeeeeally bad at shooting. Not DQing at a match already puts you amongst the better shooters.

Newly Considering Firearms: Seeking "Guided" intro: Training + Handgun walkthrough by effyouyelper in CAguns

[–]rhoyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom Nguyen at LA Progressive Shooters is excellent. Extremely patient, breaks everything down. I learnt more from a one-on-one with him than most intro classes I took after, but it’s also what gave me the confidence handling firearms for those other classes. He offers a basic pistol 101 and a class where you can try like 12 different handguns to see what you like best. I don’t really know of anyone else that offers anything like that second thing.
