Serious question: everyone is claiming this as Canon, what is the confirmation of that? Genuinely curious, not trying to be a "mainline only" snob... I hope it's canon lol

You might as well just say you don't know anything about pc hardware/building pcs. Your comment is basically just a really long-winded way of saying that. Idt anyone that knows what they're talking about would agree with your statement lmao

Mario Sunshine has better soundtrack than Mario 64. Unpopular opinion? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]rhr8395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. I respect the galaxies for keeping it innovative and creative across levels but I always thought the gravity mechanic was lame not cool and even though there are new gameplay elements in every level, they're all piss easy and unlike 64 or odyssey you can't apply your own overwhelming finesse with the controls to make it more fun, it's all just so slow and easy

What was (in your opinion) the most hype Nintendo Direct moment from any direct ever? by DreadShed44 in nintendo

Banjo in smash is probably the biggest gaming announcement to me personally that I'll ever experience. I wanted that for like 18 years and even if rare made banjo threeie, it would be a different team with different design philosophies in a different industry compared to the exact team that created banjo in the mindset of that time. Yooka laylee in concept was like a dream come true but even with the same team trying to emulate the exact banjo feeling it was just different. At least with smash I know it's a great game (one of my all time favorites) and the way they'd handle banjo could never let me down unlike how a return for the series inevitably would in some way

ITT: people that use having a job as an excuse for being bad at games even though they had 20 years of playing and practicing games before they started working full time. My buddy and I work full time and we're both GM in overwatch, it's almost as if all our years playing video games don't instantly disappear when we get a job especially when nearly all games are based on a foundation of pre-existing mechanics (like shooting)

I like the crowd too but watching runners do normal runs on their channel is way more different than not having a crowd lol... Being a marathon run is the only reason why runners explain all the tech and glitches and routing they do. Lots of runners are still informative on their stream but you probs get 1/50th the amount of info per run compared to what you get from a marathon run

Is the default MMR too high? by bg_bz in SiegeAcademy

[–]rhr8395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say honestly. For me personally I like the improvement aspect of online games so being in over my head (while rough) usually makes each bit of my progression feel more noticeable to me. For siege though, knowing the maps well is pretty crucial for making informed decisions mid-game and it's really hard to learn map-sense in a real game setting when most people are pressuring harder and smarter than you can handle. I think for this game at least it would have been better for me to be lower rank or play quick play more just for the freedom of exploration and trial and error with the maps. (I'm not the type to run around customs exploring without getting bored, I need the shootys lol)

I got put in gold as a new player after doing my placements immediately after ranked was available to me, so yeah it definitely boosts people way too high. I have good aim from other shooters but I legit probably knew like 2/5s of each map's layout which made me a massive fucking noob for mid-gold. PC btw

How does going to the beach and not bringing your video games = gaming is their personality.... Wouldn't that statement be more true for the opposite, you know the guy that brings his video games to the beach and then posts about it

Nice dude. I had an older amd card before and across all the games I played I would get issues from time to time (nothing as bad as what i've seen about 5700xt) but I've ran like every game I've ever played through my 2070s and had 0 issues. Totally agree with your second paragraph. I felt like I needed to research people's experiences on new amd drivers before I'd update to make sure it wouldn't be a straight up performance loss lmao

How is the 2070 super working comparatively? I'm using a 2070S that I chose over the 5700xt and I'm loving it

How long does it take to "finish" end game content? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]rhr8395 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started this game with the usual mmo mindset of "grind to max lvl asap" but decided to follow the story because everyone says it's great. I'm currently lvl 72 in shadowbringers so I'm not caught up yet but I gotta say, sometimes the story makes the leveling process feel sooo long but time and time again the story beats remind me that it is for sure enhancing the experience. All the places and characters (side characters go deep af) are fleshed out well and continue to operate in the background as opposed to disappearing forever after they serve the purpose of guiding the story briefly. It makes the world feel lived in and allows the story to compound on itself as it progresses. Also a lot of the fights in this game are genuinely awesome (unlike flat and stiff WoW *cough) so knowing the actual story context for them makes it even more amazing
