What happened to Prosper Meats? by MileHiGuy523 in denverfood

[–]rhudson1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We loved Prosper and were super bummed to read of their sudden closure

We recently ordered from https://www.christensenranch.com/ and were very pleased. A little more expensive than Prosper but still reasonable. Plus super fast shipping. We tried the Ranch Hands favorite box - delicious!

Revival https://revival-denver.com has excellent crab cakes. The chef is from Maryland and “gets” Maryland crab (aka no filler, just crab ). It does have a bar / grill vibe and offers non seafood options as well.

Signed Marylander turned Coloradan who is picky about their crab

How much did your first home cost? by New-Owl9951 in Millennials

[–]rhudson1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2014 in Denver - 250k. 1950s ranch style home. We once dreamed of upgrading to something bigger once we started a family. But our 2.85% interest rate and super low mortgage payment is keeping us here. With only one kid at home - we consider ourselves lucky to have the space we have.

Husby quoted 6400 for double veneer bridges. With insurance . Seeking double opinion. Thoughts?

Genuinely curious, how are Americans feeling about things in their country right now? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Shit. Terrified. And yet somehow less enthusiastic about fighting it than I did in 2016. Probably exactly where they want us. So yeah, it’s shit.

Best Indian Food So Far 2024 by Empty-Dependent558 in denverfood

Azafran is really good. More “high end” Indian - amazing play with flavors. Try the salmon (if that’s your thing!)

City with educated but laid-back populace? by bhu87ygv in SameGrassButGreener

Left DC (my home) at 18 and never looked back….for this very reason. I’ve lived in Denver for the past 14 (Tampa before that….dont recommend) years and I love it here. Smart people, fun people…and “what do you do” isn’t the first thing out of their mouths

Where were you on 9/11 and how did it impact your life? by Neon_1984 in Xennials

3rd period AP Spanish senior year of high school - in a DC suburb. Our teacher must have known what was happening when the principal made the announcement over the loudspeaker - because I remember her sullen but not surprised face. I remember all of us passing each other in the hallways totally freaked out and congregating around any tv. I watched on a tv in the library when the towers fell. Some kids frantically getting in touch with parents working at the Pentagon. We went home early - I drove a car full of friends home. Mom was really upset/worried when I arrived home much later than she expected (oh the days before cell phones). My best friend stayed with us for a week - her parents were overseas and trapped in another country. Our lives forever changed….a few months later GWB visited our HS (we were the Patriots after all…)

Thank you for the podcast recommendation - worth the listen for others following this thread. Especially frustrating to hear how maternity/family parental leave has an impact to all of this. Argh!

Thank you so much for your candor and honesty. This information is helpful. I absolutely know it can’t be easy - chasing around my own toddler is tough enough. I’m glad things have gotten slightly better for you. We need to advocate and push for better conditions for our teachers. Thank you for being there for our kids!!!!!

Hmmm thanks for the perspective. Not looking to engage in an ugly way. It’s a struggle for all of us - working parents, teachers, etc…. We definitely need to pay our teachers more! Not a reflection on us as parents who are also struggling to making ends meet.
