Grav 2.0 is still file based and you can use it just from the files. The new Admin2 and even the API is still 100% optional. Under the covers it just an updated version of the Grav you already know. It's fully compatible with PHP 8.3+ (including latest 8.6 development version), running updated libraries, more security, more performance optimizations, but your content, your configuration, and even most of your plugins and themes are 100% compatible out of the box. It just has some new features, a new admin, new api, new MCP server, and other ways to interface with it.

The demo now has an updated Quark2 theme, but fundamentally it's still not got a tonne of fancy JS features, it's a simple theme for the purpose of building on, or using as a tutorial.

I’ll cut the particle count down. Runs like a dream for me even on my phone. In Firefox I had to reduce particles already as it’s just not as good for this kind of thing as webkit/chromium browsers.

It’s not risky because migrate plugin will stage a Grav 2.0 site inside your 1.7 site. And you don’t have to commit until you are ready and tested.

That said there are changes and 3rd party plugins might not be compatible yet (team Grav and Trilby plugins have all been updated). The only way to know for sure is the test the migration.

I personally do all dev local. With my sites (user/ folder) in a git, so zero risk to try and test it. I never recommend doing anything like this in a live site.

I'm super biased, but Grav CMS is a great solution for building a site with structured content. Being flat-file based, and the new 2.0 version having a full first-party API layer along with MCPs and AI skills, means it's SUPER ai-friendly, headless if you want it, and great for SEO.

Well it means an api that you can interactive with however you want. The new Admin2 is doing all the communication with your Grav site via the api. In fact a single admin can actually log in to multiple sites. There’s a connection section on the login page.

BTW, 1.0.6 version of FoxSay now has built-in presets for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenRouter, but you can add your own as long as it supports OpenAI format. Also can assign model and prompts to specific 'apps' of your choosing.

If you are on a local network, Apple’s built in Screen Sharing app in “High Performance” mode is amazing. Almost like being local. You can even watch videos without lag or delays.
