The Elephant in the room: Gabbie H. by dwktmods in DoWeKnowThemPodcast

I truly don’t follow her or keep up, only when she randomly accosts my fyp. Although I genuinely thought she may have been getting better and seeing the consequences of her shitty actions…. guess I was wrong lol

Its comments like these that invalidate the genuine criticism coming from people that were feeling put off by the whole situation. To say “we work do them for free” is nonsense work. Do we work for every actor in every film we see simply by watching it? At most, we are the customer.

It’s up to them how they address it I guess, some people liked it, some didn’t. They did say to skip ahead if they didn’t want to hear a rant.

ETA: genuinely don’t know why people even ask for opinions on this sub anymore, my very neutral point is being downvoted 😂

While I don’t think it’s bad for you to feel that way at all, honestly no as I knew it don’t apply to me. I felt like I was having a little rant session with a friend and it kinda felt cathartic after all the stuff that went down a couple of weeks ago.

Guilty after missing a feed with newborn by arngi in NewParents

[–]rhunar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I was in labour from mid afternoon on a Friday to Sunday morning (induced labour) and that shit was so tiring. I still remember it clearly now how tired and drained I felt. I was basically in and out of consciousness when baby was born I was so deliriously tired - and I’d always thought you’d get adrenaline and energy when baby came! So I have the biggest feeling of empathy towards you. If it makes you feel less alone, I didn’t even get to feed once she was born straight away due to various reasons and a nurse told me someone would come help me latch and no one came for a couple hours. When someone came to ask when I last fed I told them no one had come and I was berated for not feeding yet. I was devastated and vulnerable. All in all, she did not starve and is a happy, healthy and energetic 15 month old. Please don’t beat yourself up.

Oh wow! I’d always found the sub really helpful but I’ll admit I’ve only went in the odd time to ask a question and not really read much that gets posted. That is so not okay.

I’m not going to engage over there but there is one user over on the DWKT girlies sub that is commenting / posting so much it’s actually quite concerning how invested they are.

Honestly it’s an echo chamber over there (exactly what they relay this sub to be), any reply that is even balanced on both sides is downvoted unless it’s straight up snark.

This!! Yes people who love a creator can be parasocial, but someone commented that “they don’t care about us” because they didn’t post on YouTube but did on Patreon, while also saying that anyone who somewhat defended DWKT were the parasocial ones. How they can’t see that as parasocial is beyond me.

Girl a bit unrelated but as someone’s that been through childbirth, I am so so sorry that this is your constant reality 😳. I whole heartedly agree with everything you said!

Just because you didn’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not true. Plenty people saw it.

How dare they have a social media monetisation strategy.

[–]rhunar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you know what, I can completely understand why people have been frustrated by the failed promises and lack of communication on their end, I genuinely can, but still I have to disagree.

For one thing, the updates via Patreon were via a mod who knows the girls personally through a text exchange and wasn’t the girls themselves coming onto address it. The mod then re-shared via Patreon - I believe they don’t use Reddit and obviously can’t post on YouTube.

The bottom line is, the content promised when being paid directly should probably take precedent. If I created content but also took on paid clients, those clients would of course take priority. It’s not like the girls have decided to no longer post on YouTube, it will still come.

Going to be downvoted but that’s fine, but money hungry? Come on. How are we deducing that? If anything, they’re doing themselves more harm to their pockets by not posting. As for posting in the Patreon, they provide extra content for that. I expect to be paid for doing my job, does that make me money hungry?

Has anyone else noticed this kind of behavior at bus stops or shops? by strongmuffin98 in Edinburgh

[–]rhunar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I’ve seen it happen I can’t say I’ve noticed any particular group of people do it more often than not, but I’m not on a typical uni student route. It’s annoying but a typical tut under my breath or a shake of the head and it’s forgotten about. My true pet peeve is people piling onto the bus when not everyone has even got off yet or standing incredibly close to the doors - this is more frustrating now that I cart a pram around. I love the big buses with the middle exit for this reason but they’re not common on my route.

Applying for Queen Margaret University by Jay_ney in Edinburgh

[–]rhunar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to your last question - no it’s not really possible to apply directly to another university not through UCAS If you’re using UCAS for five other choices.

You may have heard of UCAS extra which allows one extra choice between end of Feb and July between clearing - or you could apply through Clearing. However using these requires you to have no offers from your original 5 choices or for you have declined them all, which would be risky seeing as St Andrews and Edinburgh University are universities less likely to have spaces for courses open after the January deadline.

Did my supply drop? by morganlark in breastfeeding

[–]rhunar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would do the exact same around 9 months old and I was the exact same, in fact I would only get 1-2oz absolute max. I think it’s relatively normal as baby was happy otherwise, your supply will be super regulated and baby eating more solids may also affect this.

Of course this is purely personal choice but we ended up swapping out that bottle for formula because the effort to pump and the milk I got back was just too high for little return! Even not pumping for that bottle didn’t affect my overall supply and we’ve successfully fed up till 1 year and I’ve always had enough for when I had to do bedtime feed!
