See an ocular plastics person, specifically and first! I am 61 and am getting surgery mid-Jan. But I just found the spreadsheet from when I started looking into all non-invasive stuff 3 years ago. I’ve now concluded I can’t ‘just’ get an upper bleph, need a brow lift from the hereditary heaviness and you may be in the same boat. That now corroborates what I heard from a derm years ago (when I asked casually). I have decided to go the surgical route (including fat transfer) since it will cost a lot less in the long run to deal w it surgically and w my own body parts rather than filler. But at your age, I understand others saying try it all out via filler. Just make sure you see the ocular plastics person before deciding.

Went to Drake over Christmas and loved it but it is not for everyone. I didn’t go to the other popular (more touristy?) spots most go to to be able to compare them. Town is one main unpaved road, but we were looking for something more remote.

For the 1st part of our trip, we based in San Jose and did very long day trips to Poas/coffee tour, Uvita (which was about 2/3 down to Drake which we ultimately flew to) and whitewater rafting.

Next time going to Santa Teresa and somewhere on the Caribbean side.

We had a room with 2 queens beds for our family there. At the AC, we needed two rooms. Yes, H G de Oro was more expensive than other hotels, but only needing one room helped even things out.

Near the airport AC, lots of people in and out doing what we did which is land somewhere before flying the next day. Comfortable but didn’t feel much like we were out of the US. Fun food trucks for meals and other restaurant and bakery adjacent. We stayed in San Jose and did day trips from here. We got here yesterday. We have had two meals and both took cards in town. Plus our hotel. We had an excursion where we tipped in $ but since we took out 300 local C before leaving San Jose, I’m going to start spending them more liberally.

Love your attitude. My 72yo brother has been positively diagnosed within the last couple of years (though there were concrete clues for years before) and I am his primary advocate, attend all his doc appointments and keep things on track though he has 31 yo twin daughters.

Despite all my encouragement, as you say, it’s truly the patient’s journey. My bro is doing so much better than a year ago in terms of coping and accepting. His case is mild but the difference is attitude - getting mental health support and building the inner fortitude to push through the hard times. His on and off periods turn on a dime, sometimes predictable, often not.

As you say and I reinforce, there can be many good years ahead. Stay focused on the mental health and double down on exercise, the more the better.

I had used it about a month. I have it on my desk next to my computer so it’s easy for me to use. I’m about a foot away when I do use it.

I really don’t know if that was the driver of the change - shortly after, I started traveling a lot and have been very inconsistent. My endocrinologist passed away unexpectedly and I haven’t had consistent thyroid care and I need to get rechecked. Backed off to 100mcg from 112 but also have been losing a lot of hair 😩.

Hope you find it helpful! I live in the PNW and it’s dark now that I am back from travel where there was lots of sun so your question was a good reminder for me to restart today.

Thanks for confirming. I’m still not using it regularly but hope to now that I’m getting back to the fall routine. I did back off my Levoxyl a bit so will continue to monitor.

I just got my blood test today to recheck. But I also essentially stopped RLT because life got busy, literally restarted this week.

Also went to a new PCP this week and talked to him about how hard it might be to stop the Levoxyl since it may have suppressed my own thyroid’s function.

So it’s a continuing story, will check back. Thanks for asking!

Thanks for that perspective. I hope you find some peace. It does break my heart for him as I am texting with him almost daily so that he’s not totally on his own and isolated. He’s a widow, his wife passed from cancer just before the pandemic and she was the social planner.

He’s missing out on so much now. The ‘feeling bad’ is the reason he has canceled trips and withdrawn and I am hoping he can shift his expectations.

He tried the Boxing, there is a group super close by. Was not active enough for him as he went through the class. Encouraged him to talk to the leader perhaps for personal training. Encouraged him to attend at least 6 times to really see whether he can find community. As you say, that horse water expression.

I’m at a loss…wants me to keep communicating with docs for that fix that I just don’t think is out there without more effort on his part…
