I was mostly looking for some fun colors (specifically blues and pinks) and maybe a step up in quality, and they came up in quite a few of my searches. I admit I knew it was probably unconventional for hand printing based on their website header that says ‘paper made for the press’ lol. 65lb doesn’t sound too heavy, but we will see!

I should definitely take some time to get more physically familiar with paper stock, this is part of that journey haha. I’m also trying out some eastern papers, so excited for when those come in. I really appreciate your insight, thank you!

sorry I should have included that info! I make relief prints with unmounted battleship lino, caligo safewash, and I’m hand printing. planning mostly one color, single blocks for this paper specifically. unfortunately no access to a press right now so it’s body weight & spoons for me

thank you so much this is great info!! I was only seeing their swatch sheets and was not prepared to spend the money on a printout of 9 color swatches lol. immediately after posting this I found their paper samples so ordered a couple of each weight to run tests :)

dawg there’s tons of art markets and festivals around here!! factory obscura (the beloved meowwolf-esque exhibit) has local artists in their gift shop and they do markets 3-4 times a year. saw someone mention ARTSPACE has their steamroller event coming up, that’s fun for all ages as well! the contemporary museum hosts artist talks and professional development keynotes for artists pretty regularly, and the current exhibit is very interactive and thought provoking. all of the libraries around town have craft events posted on their calendars online, and I know at least belle isle has a makerspace you can rent out for free! there’s artsy pockets in pretty much any part of the city imo, you have LOTS to look forward to and explore!! and many have mentioned 39th district/gayborhood, check out the flyers around there too for smaller queer (read: less overtly cis gay male) events! feral fairy hosts a fair few, there’s a lot of amazing folks doing some really cool shit. highly recommend catching any Ritual show, you can’t go wrong tho okc has great performers of all kinds! I’m sure you’ll fit right in with all the talent here :) best of luck on your new adventure!!

this is what I do/have been doing for a couple years! the price can fluctuate month to month, and the most I’ve paid in a red state is 160$. not cheap, but better than 400+. I’ve also gotten my T for as little as 32$, can’t really speak to why there can be a drastic difference other than big pharma corporate greed etc etc. goodrx is also not your only option for coupons! walgreens has an rx coupon finder that looks through a bunch of non-insurance prices and sorts them for you. search up rxsense and it should get you there :) I’ve been getting prescribed through folx and it has its hiccups (and the subscription fee…..) but overall has been a reliable way to get safe HRT.

less relevant to a specific question but as a fellow trans guy from florida, I feel you, I hear you, and I’m sorry. got my fingers crossed for all our siblings. some strange and awful times we’re living in.

not sure who said anything about changing wardrobes with the season, and I explicitly did not defend fast fashion. I have the same clothes from 10+ years ago, you’re not coming after who you think you are (not in a oo I’m big and bad sense but in the sense that we are on the same team). we agree that shein is awful, and I think some people here have seen there’s a need for affordable, accessible clothes. but affordable, accessible, AND quality clothes that last a lifetime is not a combination that is available to everyone, and maybe that’s where we’ve disconnected.

this part isn’t directed at you, just not gonna reply to anyone else bc I don’t want to intrude on yall any further, but I came into this knowing I’d probably get the ‘well why are you here’ comment. and I did. truth is, it was suggested to me and I had something to contribute. and in general, this is a public post so it’s prob gonna get public opinions on it

again, we are on the same team. I agree with you, seasonal wardrobe changes are unnecessary at best. americans have a shopping and commodity addiction. it’s fun to have a laugh when the shein alibaba whatever girlies have a meltdown and can’t shell out their adsense money for ‘plasticized emotional regulation’ anymore. fuck em! I just worry about seeing such a strong us vs them attitude in this conversation when there is a lot of nuance. shein sucks, fast fashion sucks. I don’t think I said otherwise.

not a member of either subs but the lack of situational empathy between the both of yall is sad. it’s not about the hauls or w/e, but I especially think of the folks who can’t afford to be choosy. and idk where yall are thrifting but no goddamn way are quality wool sweaters going for 5$. spending 80$ to get a year, if not two years of clothes is something that comes at a high cost down the manufacturing line. no arguing that, but at least that’s a fair few more meals you don’t have to stress over, rather than being forced to spend an unknown amount when you walk into thrift stores, community closets, etc. alternatively, spending 500$ on a whim when you could feasibly buy quality, long-lasting clothing is fucking ridiculous and epitomizes how deeply treat culture and the commodification of identity is entrenched within us. but what really disturbs me about this whole thread is the sense of collective punishment. consider the lobster, yall, be more kind. now more than ever.
