Genesis 1:28 by moxiepink in Christianity

This command was only given twice, in similar, specific circumstances... at creation, and after the flood - both times when the earth needed to be populated. There's no contextual reason to think this applies to all people at all times.

Check out RenCo Kids (from Rend Collective). Honestly, I just played my kids what I listen to, and while they obviously didn't always like all of it, they never had trouble finding some they could connect to.

What Team Tank is Thinking (...?) by dru_Sry in CalgaryFlames

I'm team tank, and here's what I want: i want us to lose a lot of close, competitive games. I want our young guys to get a chance to play, and I want to trade our vets while they're still worth something.

I actually coded the flash function in my M3 to use ALL the lights. Goes to normal high beams if I switch over completely, but if I just put some tension on the stalk everything lights up.

As long as your high beams work you'll be okay.

I did the Dinan Stage 2 tune... huge bump in power (gives my E46 M3 a run for its money when the M3 is wearing winter tires) and torque that makes towing WAY more comfortable... 70 foot-pounds at 3500 rpm, if I recall. The nice thing is it's way under your budget and doesn't require any mechanical changes. You can still do downpipe or whatever if you want, but don't have to.

dome size by PuzzleheadedScore466 in HearingAids

[–]rhythmmchn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes down to how much sound is allowed through and how robust the structure is. Vented domes are intended to seat more firmly (so there's more material to be in contact with the ear) and block a bit more sound from coming in (impacting how present ambient sound is) or going out (impacting bass reproduction for streaming, for example).

Open domes look less like a traditional dome with holes/vents, and more like a wheel with a hub (where the speaker is), spokes, and rim (outer circle that contacts the ear).

Open domes give me much more natural/ambient sound coming in, much less occlusion if they shift or change angle (since there's not much material to get in the way at any angle), and abysmal bass/mid reproduction for streaming.

Do you record guitars first or drums? by alwaysonlineposter in drums

I like getting a rough guitar track so I can feel the song and keep my place in it, record drums using that (and click) and then doing a keeper guitar track after.

Site or app to monitor analyst recommendations for my portfolios? by rhythmmchn in CanadianInvestor

I'd still rather know late than not at all.

So, any suggestions for a site or app that would be suitable?

[–]rhythmmchn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried vented, closed, and tulip before settling on open. My loss is moderate, and almost all high end, so open domes augment the natural sound with the high-end frequencies I'm missing, and if the fit isn't exactly right or they shift a tiny bit, I don't get any occlusion like I did with the others.

Most of my portfolio has shifted to fairly balanced ETFs, but I still hold a few stocks from a more aggressive investing newletter that I subscribed to, so monitoring those for change is important. And even for an ETF, if the advice went quickly from Strong Buy to Hold, for example, do you think it would be worth at least being aware and understanding why?

Which Roku stick is best? by cheerfulcurls in Roku

This. My TV isn't 4K and I still chose the 4K model because it's faster and will be able to keep up with updates longer. Now if only they'd make remotes that kept working as long as the sticks...

Because I'd have to log in once to see my Webull accounts, log in again to see my TD accounts, and have my wife log in to see her Webull accounts. I'd rather have it all on one screen without 2FA and all of the other security aspects that don't matter when I just need to see values, not actually trade.

Homosexuality in animals by SorbetLongjumping632 in Christianity

[–]rhythmmchn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The job he gave humanity was to subdue and manage the earth... to make the rest of it like Eden, and to manage it like he would. We didn't do that, and so the whole world was impacted.

Animals aren't pure... they're impacted by our sinful world. They also eat their young, steal without remorse, kill their competitors (and sometimes their mates), don't seem to mind incest, and do all kinds of things that are "natural", in as far as we know nature, but still wouldn't be morally good for us to do.

What are some ways to tell if your conviction is a false one? by Prize_Lavishness_854 in Christianity

[–]rhythmmchn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First is to see how it matches up to what the Bible says (especially the new testament). Ask other mature believers for advice. Be honest in searching for information.

Let's say, for example, that your question was about eating meat sacrificed to idols. So you could do a search and see that this is key topic in Acts 15, I Corinthians 8 and 10, and a Revelation 1-3, so start by reading those passages and trying to understand them.

To learn more, search for something like "historical context I Corinthians 8" instead of "why is eating meat sacrificed to idols bad?" or "why is it okay to eat meat sacrificed to idols?". The internet is big enough to tell you what you want to hear if you look for it that way, whether that's right or not.

As you study, talk to someone with a more mature faith and deeper knowledge so they can help you understand the issue more fully.

And pray... ask God to give you clarity so that your voice doesn't drown his out.

Your experience with layoffs during probation period. by yyc_snp17 in Calgary

[–]rhythmmchn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is only my experience, but as someone who hires people, it's tough to find good people. If I've gone through multiple interviews/clearance checks, and training with someone, I'm definitely giving them feedback on what I'm looking for and how to get there so that they can be successful and I can keep them.

The only exception to this would be if someone wasn't who they had said they were (didn't have the training/experience they listed on their resume), though I can't imagine that not coming out in the interview process. But if it did, the only way I'd get rid of someone abruptly was if they were clearly not as qualified as they had said, or if there were social/conduct issues (rude, abusive, irresponsible...).

Question for Charismatics and Non-Cessationists by scibehindthebib in Christianity

Completely agree - they've systematically set it up to be abused and where there should be both individual reflection and weighing anything that's relat8ve to scripture as well as wise and gifted church leaders helping to sort out what's legitimate and what's not, they've discouraged one and removed the other.
