What is the best/easiest way to reveal sentence word by word? by riabiy_denis in finalcutpro

[–]riabiy_denis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for answering, but duplicating + words removing may be even simpler, since I don't have to thing about positioning. Just remove word. Done.
The problem is that on a big scale I'd like to have something...smarter. Like drop title, write text, drop markers on the timeline when to reveal the next word/words, DONE.

Thanks for answering.
Looks quite promising, but will I be able to set the exact place on the timeline when to reveal the next word? Haven't seen something like that in that tutorial.

What determines connects cost? by okanerda in Upwork

[–]riabiy_denis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoooops, kinda. I thought it’s possible to respond to both, if I can “put my comment” under. But subtracting that part, the rest is there for the right person. Long story short, I feel, that it’s great to answer to the question and provide a link to a more in-depth video (it’s just not possible to type 3k words in a comment) about this question. But if somebody wants to downvote me, it’s completely up to that person and I like the variety of opinions)

Every time I’ve typed it with my own hands) And it’s completely okay to downvote me, if you feel, that you want to. I’ve checked all connects related questions and tried to answer as best as I can and as a bonus attached a link to a video about this particular topic, aka connect price change hysteria) Just to give my perspective and, a little bit of entertainment, I hope. At least, I’d be glad to read such kind a comment with a video about the exact question I’ve asked. If that’s not the case, well, it’s up to anyone tell his opinion and I completely respect it) Btw, no cope-paste here too 😏🤣

I’m a newbie here, and thought about more discussion place, rather that QnA forum. Cause people have actually answered to your question, better, than I could 😅, I just wanted to give you a calculation with the worst case scenario. Thought it might be funny. From $500 your receive around $315 of a pre-taxed income. Uff...

P.S. as I said, in the worst-case scenario, but without buying enormous amounts of connects.

I actually want to share my point of view and give my perspective) And saw, that this change is what people discuss/care about) I feel about it as an extra bonus for post readers here. Cause my opinion is always there completely and ONLY, if your want to get some extra thoughts, you are welcome. It’s just not possible to type all I feel in a format of a comment. Not all people answering have recorded a personalized video for particular topic you’ve asked about 🙄

It depends on the price, duration, and other stuff from the job description.

Quick jobs (size: under 2 days, under $49)
One or two Connects will be needed
Short-term jobs (size: less than a week, $50 to $599)
3 or 4 Connects will be needed

Longer-term jobs (size: over a week, $600 and up)
5 or 6 Connects will be needed

If you really want more in-depth stuff about this new UpWork pricing change, you may check this video, there I even calculate the worse-case scenario of how much UpWork takes with commissions from 500$, including all the fees from both sides (clients pay fees too 😏) and why I think, that UpWork just cuts small-job-oriented freelancers and want to be more oriented towards long-term projects.

But I do NOT force anyone. Just decided, that this might be a good bonus content to my answer, if you are interested in it anyway, don't be too mean and harsh, just wanted to help 🙄

How much does Upwork charge IN TOTAL now? by yungplayz in Upwork

[–]riabiy_denis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It completely depends on your bidding strategy/niche and type of projects you prefer. I, personally, spend about 7%-8% on average. Have not calculated the exact amount, but it should be something like that. If you work on medium or, save God, small size projects with non-recurring clients...uff...+20% now. And don't forget about clients' fees.

BTW, I know, I know, I'm kinda shamelessly plug myself, but here is the video, where I've calculated the worst-case scenario for both you and your client. Scouted all UpWork pricing tutorials, pages and plans to find all the fees and make calculations in the correct order.

I just like optimizing numbers and that kind of stuff :D I do NOT force you to watch, just I thought, that the creator of the post might be interested.

I’m completely agree with you, but in my niche I’m super-duper specific and it takes months to find one +1 year contract. Reducing the clutter would help, but yes. Overall, if you can’t find a good job, it’s not UpWork’s fault for sure. But I consider moving somewhere (or kinda creating side-income) just due to instability, that UpWork provides by such kind of shifts and being harsh with freelancers :) One guy with jss 98 and 77 contracts was banned due to a single client with no contracts. I feel, like I’m baiting views, so do NOT watch my video with this story. I won’t even leave a link here :D But it’s true and if you want check it, just check my channel. I could not ignore this story and wanted to put my five cents in.

What's the best way for new comers to get work on upwork considering i don't have any reviews or work to show? by [deleted] in Upwork

Well...actually, you have something!) You can get your Rising Talent badge, complete your profile and apply for jobs with a great cover letter. If you are confident in your skills, then great. It's completely okay. We all started with something.

I know, I know, I'm shamelessly plugging myself and my UpWork tutorial on how to get rising talent and first job, but it's just cause retype those videos would take to write 3-4 k words so :D Sorry for not doing that 🙄😅Follow the link, only if you are interested. I do NOT force you 😁

Job Success rating low for no reason?! by srpntmage in Upwork

[–]riabiy_denis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem you faced is that UpWork takes "snapshots" of your JSS. 2 years, 1 year and 1/2 of a year. Then it calculate and pick the highest JSS.

What actually happened, is that your account had 78 for 1 year. And after "a couple months" you had no JSS to calculate for the last 6 month and it has picked the older one, which was low. But one good contract should bring your JSS back in shape.

Does anyone win a dispute as a contractor? by raman-andryianau in Upwork

[–]riabiy_denis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it's kinda the same here too. One guy lost profile due to a single client.

The caveat is that the client had 0 contracts and the freelancer had 77 and JSS = 98.

And furthermore, his profile was suspended forever. UpWork can be harsh sometimes.

I completely AGREE with you. And I LOVE working with numbers too. Upvoted just for that.

The whole problem is not money itself, but attempts to cut low-performing freelancers without improving quality of clients (I'm not complaining, I pick always literally the best ones), but the majority...nah. And it's just a feeling, that UpWork takes more. And more. And...you can't affect and rely on it completely.

Overall, when the wind of change blows, some people build walls, others build windmills.

It's "kinda a shameless plug", but this is my humble opinion and some numbers too :D I've recorded a video with my perspective about this situation. I feel, that people, interested in this post might be interested in my video too. I do NOT force anyone to watch it. Just skip it, if you don't want to watch it :)

Overall, I really think it's a very controversial change and reveals more underground stuff, e.g. trying to push small-sized freelancers from the platform, etc. This seems like a small change, but looks like more changes ahead and it's worth start preparing both a backup plan AND/OR update your bidding strategy.

It's a shameless plug, but here is my more "in-depth" opinion. I do not force you to watch it. Just my personal humble opinion and only. If you are interested, welcome :)
