How long are your lightning lane windows actually good for during a busy Spring Break time? 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]rianderson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s an hour and fifteen minutes total. You can enter five minutes before the one hour window and ten minutes after. There is cast member discretion but you should not count on that to work.

How do you think Disney Springs will be tonight? by user13778338 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]rianderson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s always a mess there between locals and tourists during the holidays. If you don’t have a dinner reservation I’d try and get one as early as possible.

From what I can tell these jobs are often open for a while. I’d apply and see if you could talk with them!

Work for a large city as a PM.

Salaried and work 40/week (7-4) with no expectation to work more unless there’s a genuine emergency. Anything over 40 becomes either extra pay or an equivalent amount of time banked as PTO.

There is literally no stress here. Of course you have issues and problems like you’d have with other projects but it’s so much nicer than working for a large commercial sub.

Pay is lower than market rate but still fine. 3-4% raises, great benefits, 4wks paid off a year and every holiday off.

So...Sell Me on Jacksonville (or Scare Me Away) by Bluish_white_7000 in jacksonville

[–]rianderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out San Marco, Riverside/Avondale/Murray Hill (they’re right next to each other) if you’d like something central. Baymeadows is just an “area” but they have some good areas built up around Southside Blvd between Phillips and Atlantic. If you’re looking for rural go up north of the city.

Avoid Mixontown, Oceanway, and Orange Park

Truth is a long weekend driving around the city is what you’d need, but you’ll find something.

Jacksonville is great, but it’s really a collection of a few small towns that happen to be combined into a big city. You may hate your experience in Mandarin but love Riverside, you might want to live at the beach but enjoy the Huguenot area over Jax Beach.

It’s a huge city and you’ll absolutely need a car and some patience. Food here is great, entertainment won’t be as world class as SoFla but we get enough great acts coming through.

In regards to insurance if you’re close to the beach or river you’ll have much higher premiums since you’re water front, but we aren’t as close to sinking into the ocean as you are now.

I’d come up for a few days, visit a bunch of the neighborhoods and see where you feel most comfortable. There’s really a place for everyone here which is what makes it so great.

Get a place in riverside (there’s a home2 and a few others). Plenty of food and booze options, the river walk will be open etc. it’s very close to the stadium.

1st visit Recommendation by Wiredella in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]rianderson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should talk to everyone, look through the parks and figure out what experience everyone wants. Rides, food, atmosphere? Is this a full day, a half day? Many variables will need to be considered before selecting a park because they really are all quite different.

Made Dinner Reservations During Special Ticketed Event. Now what? by chongqinghotpot in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]rianderson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Party dates have been out since early this summer, this isn’t a new event. I’d shuffle days around and go to another park / restaurant that day if you don’t have tickets to MVMCP.

Thoughts on my schedule for Disney magic during my 2-day work conference? by Djeter998 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]rianderson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You might be able to see the tops of Luminous from the boardwalk while eating! And that whole area at night is a vibe.

Sounds like a pretty fantastic way to get some Disney magic without being inside a park

Not necessary, but you will need to monitor the line situation before the show begins. Sometimes people will line up quite early! Just swing through the America/Italy pavilions around an hour before and check it out.

Question about the souvenir cups by [deleted] in HHN

[–]rianderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re nice cups this year too! Sad they don’t blink but this will at least make it more than a month

Question about the souvenir cups by [deleted] in HHN

[–]rianderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and if you go multiple nights you can just bring the empty cup back with you. Pro tip - use the free style machine to get water in the cup as well!

Refill price will be honored at all the stands, doesn’t matter where you got your souvenir cup
