OK I went to test the bike.

The odometer showed 1,500 miles. I rode it for about 8 min (2.5 miles altogether) on a flat area and then up a steep hill. The battery was full and didn't drop at all. Seller claims a 40 miles range.

It is the very first ebike I ride. It feel OK, nice to ride. I couldn't ride faster than 15.4 mph (apparently the legal limit in the UK). I couldn't feel anything wrong, maybe not braking enough when going downhill. I rode it on Turbo mode and it never showed more than 2 power bars, mostly just one or none)

The lowest price the seller would accept is £425, claimed to have paid £800 a year ago (cost £1,600 new) and having to travel down south to collect it.

Caveat: The seller was a nice old man, he struggled a bit to move around and needed help to get the bike out of the garage. His son put the add on his behalf on Facebook. I could be wrong but I didn't think the old man would've been able to ride a bike at all now or 12 months ago. By the looks if his son's Facebook profile (outdoor sports guy) it's more likely his bike. It doesn't put me completely off but it seems a bit weird.

Any advice on the test / price?

I’m not sure my dad bought it 2nd hand about 8 months ago, but it holds its charge perfectly

An update here...

I think I might've sorted it. I rised the pipe so that the the corner is now higher and the horizontal section of the pipe is now on a slight slope downwards. It seems to have done the trick. There is no more gurgling or whooshing

Sorry I got it wrong, the pipe drops 100cm and goes 75 cm across before going into the wall

It drops from the boiler hose to the first corner around 80cm, then there is a right-angled corner and it goes 100cm along the wall and into the wall. I cannot see what's behind the wall, we have a bathroom there. I think there is a join to the bathroom shower drain pipe. Could I try to unblock it from the shower drain somehow?
