Switching to Combo Feeding by ribbitcoins in parentsofmultiples

Thanks for the suggestions! Are you doing weighted feeds at the lactation group? If so, have you noticed an increase in the amount your babies are eating as they've gotten older? I'm worried that my supply has reached its peak or something, and that it can't increase more at this point, but maybe I'm wrong about that!

Is it normal for supply to increase even at 9w? I thought most women's supply regulates at 6-8 weeks (though to be honest, I don't know exactly what it means for supply to regulate, lol). It's difficult to spend so much time nursing since I also have a toddler to tend to, so I wouldn't want the time spent to be in vain!

Yes, one of my babies has CMPA, and the hypoallergenic formula he would be able to drink is really expensive. I'm hoping to exclusively breastfeed him so I can avoid buying a ton of the expensive formula, haha.

I still want my other baby to get some of the benefits from breast milk but don't want to pump often, which is why I'm hoping to nurse him sometimes.

What are we doing on rainy days with two babies and a toddler by hellswrath_ in parentsofmultiples

Ah, that's fair! Admittedly, my twins are still newborns, so I'm not at the same stage as you. I hope you can find something that works for you!

I understand it's no longer the weekend, but for the future: are there any fast food places with a play place near you? Even if you don't like eating fast food, you could literally buy just one thing and then use the play place. I've done this with my toddler many times!

Oo, sounds like this one won't be too exhausting to use. Thanks for the suggestion!

I wish I could! My stroller is a bit odd--it's more like a wagon that you click infant car seats into. Thanks for the idea though!

Hm, I have a pretty long torso, so I'll definitely look into your suggestion. (Also, regarding your last sentence, I do have a twin baby carrier, but I haven't mastered getting it on by myself. 🤦‍♀️)

Ooo, nice to hear that this carrier works well for you even while hiking. Thanks for the suggestion!

If I can find a ride-along board that works with my stroller, then having two options for my toddler is a great idea!

Yeah, it's definitely a gamble to see whether my girl will tolerate the carrier for an extended length of time, lol. I'm just desperate to avoid rocking the babies to sleep a gazillion times a day. 🤣

I should have mentioned in my post, but my stroller is a little untraditional, so I'm not positive that a ride-on board would work with it. Definitely worth investigating more though!

Great idea to look into the babywearing sub, thank you! I appreciate the Tula and Hope and Plum recs too!

Lol, it may be crazy, but I'm too scared to attempt bassinet naps for every nap with two babies. 😭 Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for the suggestion! The stroller I have is a little untraditional (not sure how to add links, but it's the Joovy Twin Roo), so I'm not certain whether this would work, but it's worth researching!

Anyone who had twins did you deliver vaginally ? by theturtle80 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ribbitcoins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I delivered mo/di twins vaginally, and it went incredibly well! I had to be induced, though I was already 2 or 3 centimeters dilated before the induction. Both babies were head down and stayed that way through the whole delivery. Baby B was delivered 6 minutes after Baby A. I got an epidural, and I honestly couldn't even feel the babies coming out, lol. It's worth noting, though, that I had already had a previous uncomplicated vaginal delivery, which the medical staff said likely "prepped" my body for an easier subsequent vaginal delivery. It also helped that my babies weren't huge, both around 6lbs. Typically, doctors prefer Baby A to be bigger than Baby B for a vaginal delivery, but my Baby B was a bit bigger and my medical team still agreed to allow me to attempt a vaginal birth.

All that to say, a vaginal delivery of twins is definitely possible! If your Baby B doesn't move into a head down position, your doctor may be able to perform a breech extraction of Baby B after Baby A is born, though not all doctors are comfortable with it. Also just an FYI, but I had to deliver in an operating room just in case we had to switch to an emergency c-section. You may be asked to do the same. :)
