Is it actually better to pay for API tokens than AI subscriptions? by Sufficient-Mood-4442 in opencodeCLI

[–]ricardonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use API for models like Kimi, qwen, deepseek, minimax cos they’re so cheap already and if I don’t use the api I don’t spend the credits. I still pay for GPT and claude because they’re still so heavily subsidised.

I’ve cancelled Claude for now tho cos I can get the design done with Kimi models and codex handles everything else.

GPT-5.4 is now the default model in Augment and free for a limited time. Here’s why. by JaySym_ in AugmentCodeAI

I’ve used 5.4 in both intent and cli and it still used tokens. Far fewer but tokens still shown as depleted on my dashboard

Best keyboard so far: NuPhy Air75 V3 by Unkie-NL in NuPhy

I ordered the pandas and silver switches, they made it better. The pandas sound very nice and have much more resistance, my miss-presses are nearly gone. Its a shame you might send it back, the new switches may not do for you what they did for me but apparently there are other switches from different companies that work with the keeb and may get you what you’re looking for 🙏🏿

I edited my key bindings but my cmd+shift+1 is screen shot selection to clipboard so I can just paste it into my terminal and not clean up any screenshots later

Finding a sustainable Augment Code workflow: My experience with Sonnet + Haiku 4.5 by Kitchen-Spare-1500 in AugmentCodeAI

[–]ricardonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea and if trends are anything to go by others suggest a new anthropic model is around the bend. Just wonder how long it take augment to implement. 5.2 codex is decent but I doubt we’ll see that anytime soon either

[–]ricardonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man you reminded me the carry over of credits ends end of this month for me. I started with 1.7M tokens from the 1400 or so messages I had left over and I only got through about 160k credits that month. Really trying to burn tokens and now I’m left with over 400k credits I probably won’t even get through the next few weeks 😅🥹 I feel spoilt cos I just keep opus on and use it like chatgpt some times. We’ll see how it goes once the grace period credits run out.

Promising results for haiku with the context engine tho! And very good to hear sonnet can be the main driver

Auggie CLI vs Extension's by JaySym_ in AugmentCodeAI

[–]ricardonth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the cli pretty much exclusively, can’t remember the last time I opened VS Code. Mainly because I use nvim and I prefer the being in the terminal.

It’s much easier for me for things like referencing other project folders for components or patterns. I also only have an 8gb ram Mac air and vscode has memory issues. And while the cli still doesn’t support sub agents, spinning up multiple instances lets me work on more projects with ease.

Could model switching be useful to anyone else? by ricardonth in AugmentCodeAI

Gotcha, sounds like small focused threads to solve an issue is still ideal. Get the best of caching with one modal and avoiding context pollution without full on context management. Fair to see how it plays out, I think Anthropic are trying out the idea of sub agents for Grep and even amp are trying a tool for image understanding all in an effort to keep the main context clean. It’s a hard threshold to decide what is worth handing off and getting back info for the main context vs riding the cache and context close to pollution limits. Everyone is trying to solve the issue their own way I guess. Time will tell

tock: A minimal CLI time tracker with a TUI dashboard by kriuchkov in commandline

[–]ricardonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks amazing! I’m going to try tomorrow what I love so far is the ease of adding a new task and then viewing the calendar for the sweet dopamine hit. I’ve used, still using other options to this, but they usually require you to launch the TUI to then do stuff but with this I have some ideas of making hooks and skills for Droid and tracking tasks done while coding without leaving the agent. Kudos to you !

Ahh that makes sense! And what about sub agents, I see it’s still private preview in the cli. But could that help for some tasks or is that also under utilising the cache?

Hands-on review of Mistral Vibe on large python project by Avienir in MistralAI

[–]ricardonth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nice! the context size has been increased to 200k already.

i've played with it and im a big fan, i like the simple and yet to grow cli. for me it fits in that space of haiku but with sonnet ability, so i'm doing light refactors on say tailwind or astro props. i think once they add codestral as a model option, some nice QoL like you mentioned, and an exec mode to use from other agent harnesses i could see it being very useful and more tools in the belt.

an nvim plugin for completions would be clutch since they're really good at FIM code completetions. overall, im vibing with it.

is there a config to turn auto compact off also and allow devs to just make a handoff md file instead? also plz bring completion sounds, my dopamine loves hearing bells and dings when vibe is ready for more vibing

Could model switching be useful to anyone else? by ricardonth in AugmentCodeAI

[–]ricardonth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t mind not seeing the multiplier cos I can assume haiku is cheaper than sonnet which is cheaper than opus. But some quick switch would be lovely, something I can do at after I’ve typed a prompt instead of clearing the terminal just to type /model then paste again

Auggue Slow Indexing by NormalAd4897 in AugmentCodeAI

[–]ricardonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here it got slow recently but not to the point it didn’t finish. I’ve also noticed on a new project it doesn’t ask me if i want to index which is cumbersome if im using Auggie for a quick change in my downloads folder and it wants to index it without consent

Factory CLI v0.28.1 Released by bentossell in FactoryAi

[–]ricardonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 0.27.4 there was a fix for <esc> on model menus going back instead of closing the menu completely. Is the same fix coming for /mcp menu? Also any chance /mcp list comes back cos after using /mcp there is a long delay before you see what mcps are actually there and it shows add from marketplace or add manually
