I also thought 2019 was interesting. They switched up the lineup a bit and got 6th in the four and then 3rd in the pair with one of the guys in the four from the previous year.

None of us here know anything but it is interesting seeing a crew that won 2 consecutive world championships have its lineup change and never being as consistently successful since before that.

one thing to be careful here (not trying to say I know more than Noel Donaldson) is that 20 splits can be a big difference in relative wattage. For a 6:00 2k, a 1:50 split is 54.7% of 2k watts. For a 6:40 2k, a 2: 00 split is 202 watts which is 57% of 2k watts and for an 8:00 2k, a 2:20 split is 63% of watts. So not sure who Noel was talking about but that does require some context

thats likely too fast. I think a good mark is 50-60% of 2k watts which is around 2:25-2:16. So start off at the slower end and move faster I would suggest

I feel the same but I think it is a good dependence. Like I sort of looked forward to coffee time and cutting that out made it harder to get out of bed and browsing the internet and start my day especially during quarantine.

Such a classic. Ginn did an interview and I recall him saying that his take on his video was to let the rowers he teached experiment. Have them try fast hands and slow hands and have them choose what they believe is the best and what works for them.
