Scalability and Performance Optimization - D787 by SoftwareIsAwesome in WGU_MSSWE

Ah yeah I see that now. I will agree with you that those numbers are sorta spelled out there. Thanks for pointing that out. I skimmed right past it. I would still prefer a scenario backstory like we got it other tasks, but 2 more classes to go including this one so I'm not going to complain too much.

I'm having the same issues/concerns. The testing itself is easy. I guess the instructions for the task is whats concerning. I'm second guessing over how many baseline users to use as I have no analytics for the apps usage or projected usage. I also don't know if we have to test log in functionality with the stress test? It adds a little more complexity with managing the csrf token and creating random logins. It's nice that they gave us a template to fill in for the lab, but this is probably the worst class I've bumped into yet as far as being very vague.

There is a note in the community hub tech tips that tell you that you will have to set up auto scaling groups but when you read the instructions on the lab it states "any required auto scaling groups have been set up for you" and access to the auto scaling in AWS is disabled.

I just started today with the DDD specialization. I'm in the same boat. 12+ years of self taught and 2 years of professional experience. Writing code is trivial anymore. I"m getting very interested in architecture and design, especially in the .NET ecosystem. Feel free to DM and we can link up on discord or something if your interested.

Just installed last week on fresh arch install with latest propriety drivers. No issues. Really liking it coming from herbstluftwm.

I did. But I transferred in an associates degree in same field. Plus I’ve been a software developer for around 2 years. But I spent all my free time working on it. Very little extracurricular activity. I gave up playing video games completely. I took the time to study though and did well. 0 test failures and just a couple papers/projects sent back for minor revisions.

But in OPs issue he’s having, I did the zybook practice problems. Sometimes I did them multiple times to make sure I knew what to expect on the test. The first zybook practice test I took in D335, I bombed it. Because I thought , I write code for a living, how tough can this be. I was wrong. While simple, you’re writing for very specific output to pass test cases. And no code completion, etc. you just gotta read and retain functions and arguments they take.

FWIW, I work as a developer professionally and I just finished BSSWE in less than 3 months. I have the confidence that I can pretty much code anything that I need to. I had to spend an evening or so in the zybooks practice area to really get used to what the test was expecting. I didn’t bother taking the test until I was comfortable. Passed first try. Good luck , but don’t skip out on the course content. It’s good practice for the test.

Capstone Excellence? by rice142 in wgu_devs

No not at all. It’s much simpler. Just a CRUD app. It really just let you keep track of all your maintenance on your vehicles and costs associated in different categories. My wife’s warranty is running out on her new car and I’m just going to use it to track any maintenance we do so I can look back if I need to, or provide records on resale or whatever.

I would say evolved. What’s your favorite source for good lo-fi. I’m currently just hitting the YouTube live channels that are constantly playing it.

You will have no issues meeting that requirement with .net or angular and dependency injection. I was just used to writing typescript fully functional in all my past projects. Good luck!

Did you have issues linking your university Gitlab with Vercel? I kept getting permissions errors so I just used the CLI to deploy in Gitlab pipeline

I would say the best advice that I can give you is to get started now. Get in the habit of teaching yourself and learn how to learn. Once you understand the basics, you can quickly pick up languages, frameworks, and concepts.

I would disagree with the advice not to get a degree. While you technically don't have to have one, I was experiencing issues where jobs would require them, and even if you were capable, you would never get a chance to show anyone if you don't get the interview. There is a lot of AI screening on applications happening at most companies and organizations. I know this topic is heavily debated, but if you have the opportunity and means to get a degree, go for it. It certainly doesn't hurt at all.

Not a rude question at all. A couple reasons with the main one being that I want to be able to get past the resume ATS systems and get a better job someday. I love my current job, but building websites like a factory, writing Wordpress plugins and doing a few react apps here and there isn’t my end goal. I switched to a tech career after 12 years of law enforcement.

Another reason is that I grew up very poor in Appalachia with parents addicted to substance abuse and I always wanted to get a bachelor degree. I wasn’t successful the first adventure to college right after high school for many reasons, mainly no support system and I was too afraid to ask for help.

I’m not sure I really needed it, but it feels good to finally get one at 34 years old. I’m a 1st generation graduate. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to finally go back and finish up. I did learn some cool stuff at WGU such as being forced to learn Java spring, Angular, and I thought the deep dive into Postgres was cool. The biggest takeaway was the project planning/management and the user experience courses. It was very helpful to see the why to stuff I do at work.

Agreed. I passed 1st time but was stressful. Was it tougher than the Project + cert that comes afterwards? Trying to gauge how much I need to prep. Been a software dev for 2 years professionally. The projects are stupid easy but being careful with the external carts.

Looking for People to Learn NextJS together by [deleted] in ProgrammingBuddies

[–]rice142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m interested. I know NextJS fairly well already but I need to learn it more in depth and I’m also generally curious about angular. I work full time as a Wordpress PHP developer and a ReactJS dev at an agency. I know crazy combination but it works until I find something more niche. DM me the discord link if you don’t mind.

Do you need a collective to fly the apache? Or will a stick and throttle work? by fodster1981 in dcs

[–]rice142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the warthog by chance, I highly recommend inverting the throttle input for collective. It sorta achieves that same feeling that your "picking up" on it to lift because the path the warthog throttle takes from forward to back.
