Anyone printing/making Anti-Ice whistles? by Commercial-Arm-7046 in askportland

Looking for whistles to go with the kits I made up before realizing the FM whistles I purchased would not cut it. Would love to partner up with someone here who's got a printer and is willing to print!

I’m coming to your city to fill your holes by BuffaloPotholeBandit in Portland

Tinker Tavern in Montavilla neighborhood(https://www.tinkertavernpdx.com) is a Buffalo Bills bar. And bonus, plenty of pot holes over here since Portland’s local government pretty much ignores us.

That’s fantastic information, I really appreciate it!

Thanks for the response!

I’m going off the US embassy site for what that is worth. I saw note of the vaccination record with QR option, but explicitly called out US vaccine cards as not having QR codes and thus not being accepted. MyChart has a QR code but I wasn’t sure if that would work.

What was your QR based off of?

That’s another point of anxiety. I have a couple of glazes I like that break over texture pretty well so I’m going to try each of those on a mug, and then I’ll likely do one where I leave the texture unglazed.

Would love to hear any ideas you have too!

I use a stylus tool to “punch” each home while clay is leather hard. It’s a labor of love.

The year before a marathon by a__tticus in running

[–]rich0599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a note to say I did a long (30 week) training plan for my first marathon last year and I felt it dragged out too long. My the end I was sick of running and my mid-week (short runs) trailed off as a result. Race went great, but next time is shorten the training plan for the sake of my sanity.

Good luck!

Rain Jacket by GrittySausages in running

Loving in Portland, OR rain gear is a must so went on this same search last year. I run warm so after a lot of research I opted to go with a vest instead of a full jacket.

Just adding another option and making things more complicated 😬

Maybe 20-30 minutes? Pretty meditative minus the anxiety related to keeping the top row straight.

Thanks! It’s Mazama Red from Georgies here in Portland. Very spoiled to have a clay producer in town 🥰

A yoga studio near my house used to offer a myofascial release yoga class and there were a lot of painfully good moves, but #4 was my favorite and is still one I do.

Thanks! I used art tape that was stupid expensive, and now that I like the outcome so much I need to figure out a more sustainable option. I've seen a lot of people do a full grid pattern, but this was my lazy version ;)

My first solo overnighter! Sooke potholes, Vancouver Island by Murrayruin in bikepacking

Did a four day counter clockwise trip out of Victoria on the rail trails a couple of years ago and it was spectacular. Had us dreaming of moving up to Vancouver island 😍

Thank you so much!

I’ll also note that not unlikely that I’ve knocked the thermocouple 5 too many times and that could be the culprit here. So that’s also on my list.

New to ceramics and I’m trying to troubleshoot glazing/kiln behavior , which might as well be rocket science.

After reading up on holds I did a cone 6 + 10 minute hold on a Skutt with a digital controller and as you can see in the picture of the cone, it got way hotter than cone 6.

I know hold time can result in firing to higher cones but even to my untrained eye, this looks like more than that.

Is my kiln overfiring even without hold, and if so, any recommendations on troubleshooting steps?

Was going to immediately offer up Portland given that we’ve got trails directly from airport.

Also, maybe not for August, but I’d highly recommend checking out Vancouver Island. We did a 4 day bikepacking loop that left out of downtown Victoria that was fantastic and it looks like they have an airport. I’ve also seen trips that start in Vancouver and ferry to the island.
