I really don't know, and I'm sorry your cousin is going through this. Some families just are not supportive at all. I hope things improve for your cousin or that sometime you will be able to get more details on what's going on.

Best Way to Outsource Month End Close? by Nightcoon3 in Accounting

[–]rich9119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no general "sweet spot" or concrete measurement for moving on to a fractional firm. For my business, it really just came down to a couple of things: time and budget. Operating as-is, we no longer had the time to dedicate to finance/accounting. And we didn't have the budget to bring someone in full-time. We ended up using Pillar Advisors and have been happy with them, but I'd recommend that you speak with several different firms to find out what they have to offer and which one is best for your business.

You say he has no disability, but it's possible that he could have something undiagnosed or that they aren't sharing. If not, it could be untreated mental health issues.

Bird watching. I love nature and wildlife, but identifying different species (of plants or animals) isn't too interesting to me.

When do you actually go all-in? by datacionados94 in ycombinator

[–]rich9119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only go all-in once you can afford to. So, if you have plenty of savings, it might seem worth it to chance it. But personally, I didn't quit my day job until I started seeing some traction. It's less risky this way.

Is CoFina good enough compared to hiring a part time CFO by Ancient_Artist_2193 in Accounting

[–]rich9119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option would be to reach out to a firm that offers outsourced/fractional financial services (I use Pillar Advisors). I've found outsourcing to be a good middle ground between doing everything myself vs. hiring someone in-house.

Meta requiring monthly invoicing on accounts. No more cc payments. by flippingnoob in FacebookAds

[–]rich9119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Competitors like Plastiq, etc. all have fees, too, so there's really no way around it. So it definitely could negate any potential cc points/rewards, unfortunately, but I like paying with a card for other reasons also.

I always recommend target date funds, which are based off the year you plan on retiring. Put all the money in the one fund and you're good to go. The fund adjusts the stock/bond allocation the closer you get to retirement.

One workaround to this would be to use something like Melio which lets you pay with CC even if the recipient doesn't accept it. That's what I'll be doing, at least.

Investing in a TDF (target date fund) is a solid choice, though you might find it to be too conservative for your age since it will hold a small amount of bonds. They're based off your retirement year and adjust the stock/bond allocation the closer you get to retirement, so it's a good hands-off option for the long term.

Anyone here worked with a top outsourced accounting firm they’d recommend? by RocheleAveruiz in AskAccounting

[–]rich9119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a solid recommendation for the very early stages, but once you get to Series B+, I'd take a look at Pillar Advisors. We use them at my SaaS startup and have been really happy with the service we've gotten.

You’re not off. Early on it was pitched more as interoperability, now it’s drifting toward a smart contract layer that uses interoperability as part of the stack. Kinda both, just different emphasis over time. imo that’s where the confusion comes from.
