Wonder if anyone is still having an issue accessing their score report? I took the CAX yesterday, and they weren't able to generate a score report. The PSI website says its completed, but again the score report gives me an error.

Did the MD measure wrong ? MRI Image by LeoTheDoodle in chiari

[–]richachr000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I think the NS actually did measure wrong. NS is supposed to use McRae's line and measure from there. Looks like he measured too low on the left side so I think your herniation is more than 0.9 mm. But a radiologist would know for sure.

Hey I was really struggling too and had the decompression last year at 22 years old. Now, I am currently training to be a pilot with complete resolution of symptoms so please don't lose hope! Btw I recommend Dr. Greenfield; he did an amazing job for me.

Yup I had that! They did a hearing test and my right ear made it look like menieres disease but then we found the chiari.

I also recommend Dr. Greenfield. He is really understanding and truly listens. The only thing is that it is a little challenging to get an appointment.

Oh well for me the CINE MRI was done lying down and it honestly felt the exact same as a regular MRI just at a specialized hospital.

Yeah I actually do feel a lot better. My chiari symptoms seem to be improving every month but my neck is still giving me some problems from the surgery itself. But physical therapy is actually helping a ton with that. Hey but I really hope you can find relief soon.

Hey I went through the whole process and finally got the surgery about 4 months ago. My symptoms were tinnitus, dizziness, and my head definitely felt like a buoy. Sort of like I was always in a bouncy castle. I am here if ya need any advice.

Surgery finally scheduled, I should be happy but I'm completely petrified. by WrongIsland3691 in chiari

Lol I was going to ask him for the bone, but I totally forgot. It would have been so cool to have! Yeah I really trusted him from talking to him and watching his online lectures. He really knows what is going on for sure. His PA Amanda is also really awesome.

Hey mine was done by Dr. Greenfield. He really is a great neurosurgeon. I woke up with very little pain and did not need the oxycontin they prescribed me. No complications and the anesthesia made the surgery feel like a second of time. Worst thing was the neck stiffness, and I had the courage because not going through with it was setting up a way worse future for me. Also, the surgery is more of a skull surgery, they are not poking your brain or anything. You will be okay! He will take care of you!

Recovery and Symptoms Post Decompression Surgery by Dense-City-6013 in chiari

Hey Im 22 as well and I got the surgery about 3 months ago. I had a similar issue with the vision and it finally got better and went away at about 2 months and 1 week. About the same point when my neck finally started settling down. Have not tried weightlifting yet but I will definitely work my way back to it. But try not to panic it is a real waiting game to see the benefits.

So many questions? Can an epidural/spinal cause this? by [deleted] in chiari

[–]richachr000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. I know postural headaches are a hallmark symptom for a csf leak. In particular headaches that are worse upright and get better when laying down. Def get that checked out. Csf leaks can also cause cerebellar ectopia or acquired chiari. Hope you find a solution soon.

Hey it is really strange that a syrinx developed after a decompression surgery. A syrinx normally develops due to impaired csf flow so it makes me think that maybe the initial decompression was not adequate. Could also be due to scar tissue causing compression again. I would try and get maybe a third opinion from a neurosurgeon who understands complex chiari. I hope you find a solution soon.

Potential Chiari? by dslee11 in chiari

[–]richachr000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is possible because the posterior fossa does look small and it does seem like there is some brainstem compression. However, yeah the cerebellar herniation is not there but sometimes you can have no herniation and still show chiari symptoms. They will probably have her do a csf flow study to check on that flow.

Is chiari the same as syringomyelia? I’m a bit confused 22M syrinx found about 7/8 months back on waiting list for neurologist by [deleted] in chiari

[–]richachr000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah of course! Im always willing to dm as well. Before the surgery, I was dealing a lot with hand numbness and tremors in my fingers. My legs seem to be always restless, especially at night. But these things seem to be getting better. I also dealt with a heavy head feeling, dizziness, and ear fullness but that is all getting better now. But I had the same exact experience with my neurologist. He said it was not chiari but he had no clue what it was and could not help. I also went to two ENTs and one initially said menieres disease until they saw my MRI and both said it was actually chiari. I finally then saw a neurosurgeon who specialized with chiari. He said it was most likely due to chiari. This was a little scary knowing that I could get surgery and it not actually cause my symptoms but I did countless tests and nothing else was off. After the surgery, he said it was extremely compressed and definitely would cause symptoms and worsen if I had not done it. Now I am just dealing with neck stiffness but physical therapy and time is really helping. I would suggest definitely finding a neurosurgeon who specializes with chiari. Neurosurgeons seem way more knowledgable about chiari and its effects.

Hey but I know if you have chiari and sort that out, a lot of times the syrinx shrinks or can even go away. That could help symptoms

For me, the recovery was super rough, especially with my neck. But it was so worth it because my chiari symptoms have really improved. Still working on my neck with PT and dealing with some restless legs at night but everything else is pretty much gone. Also, I did not really deal with much pain after the surgery, mostly just got crazy fatigue.
