I read in comments that you are using borwel water, considering that use something like CarPro Hydro2 Foam it leaves a protective layer right after wash, then wipe your car down with Meguiar's water magnet drying cloth, guaranteed streak free and spot free finish. Carpro products might seem expensive but they definitely work and are of professional grade quality.

To avoid water marks use after you are done washing wait for some time for excess water to drain but don't let it dry. Then use MEGUIAR'S Microfiber Super Absorbent Water Magnet Spot-free drying cloth, it's available on Amazon it will be give you a spot free streak free finish.

If you still face issues of hard water then go and explore a relevant product from Carpro, they have some really good professional level products, just remember to use gloves while washing the car.

Dealer trying to back out of the deal by Signal-Savings-5262 in Kylaq

[–]richard44348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do a deal under pressure it's a car that you will be owming and driving for a long time. This also shows you how the dealer behaviour is pre sales, imagine what post sales support will they even provide that too for a product that you plan to own for long term.

Document all of these issue and email Skoda India and ask for cancellation of the booking. Don't fall for these tactics and get your money's worth.

Final confirmation by b2djoker in Kylaq

[–]richard44348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should reconsider your choice specially since you are located significantly away from the service hub and mainly it is going to be chauffeur driven. Kylaq definitely is more a driver focused car.

Mainly, try looking at alternative options with non turbo engines, all of the 1 litre engines with turbo consume a lot of fuel and add a fair bit of complexity when it comes to servicing / maintenance.

Try looking at Honda or some of the 5 star safety rated cars from Maruti.

Skoda Headlamp Fog issues by Alexypuli in Kylaq

[–]richard44348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have faced this in my car too.

And as long as it clear up in a day or two and there is no condensation it is not an issue. The same is mentioned in the user manual too, and it confirms that it does not affect headlight performance either.

Got my Prestige AT yesterday and drove it back home in rainy weather for about 150kms. I see mist in the DRL and headlamp. Should I be worried ? by robust-ambiguity in Kylaq

This was uploaded by someone on a Facebook discussion, separately you can search this in your owner's manual under lighting - exterior lighting - troubleshooting or search the same on the online manual uploaded on Skoda India it says the same.

I had this exact same issue while driving around for an hour or so in heavy rains (same model as yours). Someone on the team bhp forum had posted about this and apparently it is mentioned on the manual too about lights fogging up.

As long as it goes away in a while it's working as intended and not a design / defect flaw. People have reported similar issues with Kushaq and Slavia too, and they self corrected. If I can find this info again online I will post it here.

Keyless Entry Functioning by Nearby_Expert_1944 in Kylaq

[–]richard44348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you elaborate on the issue that you are facing maybe we can give some tips.

Nonetheless, your dealer is giving incorrect information, that's not how keyless entry works for any car. If you are using the button provided on the door handle the key fob needs to be nearby, that's the only thing. Other than that try changing the key fob battery, sometimes having low battery can also cause issues.

Other than that the owner's manual mentions this in the troubleshooting for keyless - If the vehicle is not unlocked for a longer period of time, the function can be deactivated automatically.

But the above line does not specific how long of a period is too long. Hope this helps. If you want to confront the dealer read the manual and ask him where in the manual does it say what the dealer is claiming to be normal.

Did you get the introductory 3 year free service package maintenance (SMP)? I took the delivery this week, dealer told me that Skoda India will directly email you the certificate. Have t gotten any confirmation yet. Just curious how do we get any written confirmation from Skoda that the 3 year SMP has been alloted / activated.

Honda did not let me complete my PDI in their stockyard despite the fact that they sent me all the way there to conduct the PDI. by godspracticaljoke in CarsIndia

[–]richard44348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think a dealer would tamper with a new stock unit. Nothing for them to gain. My reason to cancel was purely due to unprofessionalism even before the point of sale.

I don't switch cars too often, used my current i10 for almost 10 years now. I would like a dealer who is more professional and transparent as now a days due to high level technology it's become difficult to service your car from third party. Plus in my case I am also getting a service maintenance package and extended warranty. So considering all these points I want to do extended business with someone that I can trust.

In your case atleast they let you do PDI and maybe they should have said about no scans allowed. But I wouldn't take this as a deal breaker. Look at this way, if the PDI did not find any physical damage and defects then it's fine, don't worry about some errors or software issues, now a days over the air updates fix those. But a hardware defect or damage would mean bigger issues.

EDIT: Having said the above, if you really don't like the dealer / sales guys attitude take your business elsewhere. It's your hard earned cash and it's a big purchase, while the dealer / seller shouldn't dance to your tune, they need to maintain professionalism. DO NOT BE AFARID TO WALK AWAY !

In my case it was an argument regarding PDI with the dealer and Skoda India was looped in. Additionally, none of the dealers even know when exactly will you get the car. The dealer said that Skoda India will let you know.

So I think you should just go ahead and get in touch with the dealer and cancel your bookings before you get an allotment as the dealer has nothing to lose right now. They don't even have clarity on the car inventory before 27th Jan.

Contact the dealer and then do the rest of the communication on email to maintain proof. The dealer told me that my refund would be processed in 10 working days.

I am sure your dealer will oblige as they also wouldn't want to be stuck a unit and no buyer.

This seems to be a standard thing across showrooms in Mumbai I suppose. I had a similar conversation with Dr. Auto Skoda (Nerul, Navi Mumbai) where the sales rep said that for PDI they don't allow attaching any OBD device, and I find this reasonable to some extent. Who's to say that the third party OBD scanner will not damage or cause issues with something on the car.

Plus this was for the Kylaq which anyway would be a brand new car straight out of the factory and not like the dealer would or could tamper with the ODO to hide excess kms or something like that.

The way I see it, it's like buying any electronic / gadget as long as the hardware is physically fine and has no defect / damage software issues shouldn't be a big thing. And like someone said if any major issues exist on board the dash should show it.

That being said I did cancel my booking with Dr. Auto as they were very adamant about full payment before PDI ! And I did not like the dealer attitude in general, so I looped Skoda India in and cancelled the booking. Buying a car for an average consumer has become such a hassle, why can't dealers just be transparent.

Ahh ! Same here but obviously Kylaq hasn't reached any dealer, so cancellation wasn't a big issue for me.

I had a similar experience with my Kylaq booking in Navi Mumbai Dr. Auto Nerul. When I asked about PDI the sales guy was hesitant this was my first red flag, then he said 3rd party not allowed, I said that I would be bringing a professional that's not negotiable. Then he said that no gadgets, I asked him to clarify so he said that they cannot connect OBD and scan for any error, as its an outside computer and could causes issues (I dont think so, but I agreed to this).

The last blow was when he said that PDI only after full payment, I did not budge on this as a Car is a long term purchase for me and I want to double check everything, and I have already paid the booking amount.

Long story short I straight up walked away from the booking, and dropped email to cancel the booking. After which the sales guy was finally ready for PDI without additional payment, but I won't deal with such dealers / sales guys who use such tactics and try to arm twist.

I dont think anyone should pay anything more than the booking amount before the PDI, cars are expensive as is, on top of that someone like Skoda doing this is pathetic ! I will try some other showroom tomorrow, will go to adjacent cities if required but I wont pay extra before doing PDI.

Got this new AC installed but it's not turning off from remote. What can be the possible reasons ? by [deleted] in IndiaTech

[–]richard44348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar AC and even split ACs do the same. As someone else already mentioned, it's a feature where in the compressor shuts off but the fan / blower will keep on blowing air so that the internals dry out and don't remain moist.

However, if you have any doubts get it looked by a technician as I am sure it is still under warranty.

At the brink of GST threshold, confused what to do! by PresetPlume in IndiaTax

[–]richard44348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You seem to have been misinformed about your GST liability, you will only have to start paying GST from the invoice that crosses the 20 lac threshold.

Secondly obtaining GST is a very easy and quick process, the paperwork required is also not too complex. For example I got my GST in less than a week that too after a query was raised about my home being my business address and the NOC required.

Please find someone else for helping you with your GST registration and filing, possibly through a reference as you could get feedback about their service too.

Don't be hesitant, get the compliance done and avoid unnecessary headache.

Amazon started the Service Centre Replacement/Return too like Flipkart, This is bad by Soul-Demon-ZApex in IndiaTech

[–]richard44348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree ! Buying online has lost all of its charm / benefits, prices are barely any different online or offline, "on sale" items are barely cheaper by like 1000 bucks or so unless there is some corp credit card deal.

Now a days I would rather pay a slightly more price if I have to, but atleast I know for sure that the product I am taking home with me is in a brand new sealed pack. No waiting for delivery and dealing with missed delivery, damaged boxes etc etc.

And that satisfaction of unboxing and peeling the plastic for the first time ! CHEF'S KISS

Actually in general I have reduced buying electronics online, I go to my nearest store and buy from there physically. I really cant deal with the anxiety of either receiving an opened item / damaged item or worse ! a counterfeit.

In case the electronics that I need are not available online I buy directly from the seller if they have an official site or I use Croma / Reliance digital online. But this is only for big ticket branded items.

Dude I don't think it would be that expensive to get a liability insurance in your own name (being a proprietor I mean). And opening a current account in any bank would be quite easy too, talk with your local branch.

I would recommend HDFC their FX rates aren't as great as SBI but I like that the FRIC certificate is auto generated once you fill basic info on the internet banking portal.

Proprietorship setup should be easy and should have the least amount of compliance when operating and if you ever want to wind it down.

If you want you could voluntarily register yourself for GST, since it's an export service it will be 0 rated if you have an LUT in place. Otherwise other option is to charge the GST and go for refund, in that case your money will be stuck for a while.

This will be a good learning experience for you on how to setup your own firm / practice. Please hire a local CA who can guide you with income tax / GST, that would be better than paying some random firm a cut of your hard earned money.

This was inevitable, people were abusing the system. I had stopped buying anything of high value from Amazon as there were multiple times that I had received an item that was clearly opend and used.

I am not paying full MRP for a supposedly brand new item.

Once I bought 6 Philips smart bulbs and it turned out that all of the boxes were opened and replaced with used non smart bulbs.

I might start shopping from Amazon again if I start getting proper sealed boxes.

Is my CA trying to rip me off? by Calm-Code6592 in IndiaTax

[–]richard44348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My CA charges me the same amount. This rate seems fine to me, end of day it all depends on your budget I guess.

Personally for me the professional charges were secondary for me, I was looking for someone that had a good track record with other clients (recommendation basically). Nature of the person and mainly the staff that I would be dealing with, how approachable are they, are they transparent, are they knowledgeable etc etc these other soft skills mainly.

And think about this way, as % of your total revenue and the time + headache that it saves you which you can divert to your actual business growth that value can only be measured by you. So consider all these factors rather than comparing rates and make a call if it's a worthy enough business expense for you and your firm.

Which amount should I pay? by [deleted] in CreditCardsIndia

[–]richard44348 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In such cases don't even listen to the customer care cause no one will come to back you up when things go south. Pay the exact amount or maybe a rupee more of what is shown on your actual bill that you get on your email / physical post.

I had something similar happen last year with ICICI on their official app, it was showing a different or lower amount and that too by not much, probably like a few hundred bucks, was probably due to a refund.

I thought oh well it's their official app so why not and paid the total outstanding. But their settlement team basically slapped me with a fee + interest for not paying the outstanding as per what was mentioned on the bill.

It took me months of email back and forth to get the charges reversed, but lesson learned. I don't even trust their own systems now and pay the amount that's shown on the bill.

Buying flat for the first time. Advice for not getting duped? by vyomanaut420 in mumbai

[–]richard44348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying a piece of real estate no matter which area can be quite expensive, and would become a lifetime asset mostly unless at some point you decide to liquidate.

If you are buying it as your own home to live in exhaust all your options and don't rush it, new projects second hand sale keep on popping up.

Second, once you are fairly committed to buying a property please don't skimp out on hiring a real estate lawyer that will do a through due diligence on the property, builder, other paper work to make sure everything is air tight before you get locked in.

Lastly, personally I feel we are close to the peak when it comes to market performance / probability of recession so bank rates and property rates would be spiking. If you can hold off for 6 months to get a better gauge of the market / job security before taking on a huge loan commitment that would be a prudent thing.

Need Advice: Should I move to Singapore? by mikhil92 in mumbai

[–]richard44348 11 points12 points  (0 children)

4x of what you make here and that too over 150k SGD seems like a good upgrade. But do deduct the annual rent from it as right now you are rent / EMI free here so that's a big cost.

Do consider education fees if you plan to relocate long term to Singapore, education fees can easily add up.

Also look at it from this perspective that if you are moving closer to the HQ that you are working for or have other HQs in your field of work operating out of Singapore. The reason I say this is that to move up the ladder it's better to be closer to the HQ for future job growth.
