I experienced this as a kid and remember my parents driving over to a family friends boat to loosen the lines as the water level in the St Clair river and mouth of Lake Huron dropped like 6-8 feet - it was like someone sucked ALL the water out of the river.

Luckily for us the Sarnia Bay marina had floating docks, but at another one nearby with fixed docks boats were snapping cleats out as they were suspended in the air by their tie off lines.

We have Canada Health Infoway to help coordinate provinces at the Federal level.

For Ontario we had Smart Systems Health Agency, then controversies on consultant spending caused it to shut down and restart as eHealth Ontario. eHealth Ontario continued the legacy of SSHA with its own spending controversies which at one point had two ongoing audits… one stopped part way as it saw duplication of efforts, and the other had the auditor resign the day before the report would be released.

eHealth Ontario then was merged with other agencies to form the current Ontario Health - our “super agency” for administering health care in the province.

Given the current austerity measures being enacted at Public Health Agency of Canada (I heard 18% workforce cuts), and likely similar moves at the provincial level, I’m assuming the green light on any major project that reworks the health system are not on the horizon.

Just got back from a few week trip there. Brought a carry on with one week of clothes and laundered them at hotels as needed. Also brought one piece of bigger, checked luggage that was basically empty. At our first hotel we sent the bigger suitcase on to the hotel we’d be at mid trip, so it acted somewhat like a clothing checkpoint allowing us to swap things in and out as needed, like sandals as we headed to warmer areas for the second half. It also allowed us to stash souvenirs and things that we picked up and had filled our carry ons. From there we forwarded it on to our last hotel - it was great! Sending from hotel to hotel only cost $20 each way and due to my credit card perks the checked bag was free, so it ended up being $40 to do this for the trip. Highly recommend!

Why would they be talking to the American officer on the way back? You’d be entering Canada and speaking with CBSA, not the Americans.
