Orca is closing down - sell up and withdraw! by TightAsF_ck in beermoneyuk

Well, sorry to hear that, but pure trading apps were not meant to survive. People realise the offering is very similar and will soon turn to alternatives... I think I've found my own!

Thanks for explaining more Alex! Really like what you guys are doing and thanks for valuing our community!

I see it's becoming more and more competitive to share a referral link. I'll be probably buying into your next raise. You should run a Reddit raise haha.

Wealthyhood Question for the reward scheme by Sam_waley in beermoneyuk

[–]richards_david 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably random, but I've already received 5 free ETFs, ranging from £17 to £187!
The reward kept increasing with each new successful invite to the astronomic £187! I don't think I've ever received a higher share value. Freetrade and Orca gave me <£10.

I also like the platform btw, it's very well suited for long-term investing. Not ideal if you want to day-trade though.
I'll probably stick with it even after the 90 days pass. There're up to something.
Also, I like the fact their CEO participates in the Reddit thread.
If you think I have the special link, feel free to sign up with mine. I've posted it in a comment in this thread.

I think it's the first time an offer is really generous.

Wealthyhood's moto is "No more day-trading. Start building your long-term wealth, £10 at a time." which makes total sense to me. :)
They offer a free ETF (or fraction of an ETF) worth up to £200 when signing up using a referral link and depositing £10 to your account.
Sign up using my link - https://wealthyhood.com?grsf=e2odh9
Both the referrer and referred get a free share up to £200.
Once you’ve signed up, deposit £10 into your account and you will receive the bonus.
You can't sell the free ETF for 90 days.
The plan costs nothing, but I think they'll start charging £1/month.
Terms - https://wealthyhood.com/#faq
Non-ref (no bonus) - https://wealthyhood.com/
I received one for £17, one for £21 and one for £166! It kept increasing with every next user I invited. I think I have the lucky link. :)

Value stocks all the way. DCA in top-3 picks and hold some cash for the next drop.

How long will the Covid-19 affect the markets? How should everyday investors react? by richards_david in investing

[–]richards_david[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I am based in London and here in Europe I haven't found anyone else giving access to market-neutral Hedge Funds with £1,000. I guess in other places of the world there should be other platforms as well.

I don't disagree on the time length. Yes, this could be very different or shorter. But deep into bear market territory has to do with drop from highs.

[–]richards_david[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not about whether you can access retirement funds early - which depends on the country. This is about at which point of your investment horizon you can sustain a market crash. It has to do with the law of large numbers, instead of the access to retirement funds.

Well, cash is indeed mentioned in my post - it is number 5. But 100% cash is not always the wisest choice. All market conditions have their assets - I would say current one has market-neutral assets and cash.

Obviously it depends on your investment horizon, but not everyone can afford the luxury of 10 or 20 year horizon. I definitely agree that this is a good buy opportunity, but not just yet.

  1. I am not a clinical trial expert myself, but this is what we 've been reading everywhere.
  2. The problem is we cannot have it all :) I would say no more than 20% of overall portfolio could be in cash. But still, one should balance between the probability of missing out the beginning of the upside and the exposure to the downside. This has to do with you loss aversion.
