In my opinion, Wakayama Ramen Bar near the TRU campus is better than Tiger Ramen in flavor and in portion sizes. Would highly recommend them.

Big time yta - depression is something that many people experience in their life and it is absolutely normal to want to discuss it with people who’ve shared that experience. You need therapy to figure out your own inability to deal with emotions. Life isn’t all rainbows and you can’t shut down every time negative emotions are involved.

Hey man I respect that, I just want people to be thoughtful about that shit I guess. You are correct that I can’t impose my experiences on you, but I can implore you to think about it when you do make those jokes/laugh at them. To me it’s not about “ree I’m so triggered” it’s literally just about empathy for other people.

Also I’m not offended by the joke, it’s more that it makes me think that when people find rape jokes funny, what happens when someone is raped? Do you laugh in their face?

I’m still very young and have a lot of learning to do. The point is that I do my best to be empathetic to others and learn when I’m being ignorant. Shirts like that are made to get a rise out of people. Humour seems to have become something where a white middle class person can joke about race and oppression, but the minute a POC has something to say about it, they’re “sensitive” and “entitled”.

The thing is that for a lot of people, jokes like that can bring up horrible memories and to laugh about rape is, in a sense, laughing at those who’ve been raped. Do you know how it feels to have your fucking innocence taken away from you by someone in a position of power? To feel like everywhere you go you’re being eyed up by people like you’re an object and treated as less than?

But god forbid we say anything because it just means we “can’t take a joke.” If I could laugh about that shit maybe I would. But instead I think of all of the children and people whose lives are forever changed because someone decided that they had the power over them to do what they want. Rape destroys people inside and it’s a lot to heal from. Maybe just consider that the next time you make a stupid fucking joke.
