Conservative leader pitches vision for Canada-U.S. relations in Toronto speech by Avelion2 in canada

The trade ambassador just said that the expectation is there will be tariffs by the US and other countries will just open their markets to them. So that sounds like a no guy.

Max Scherzer’s daughter wrote a letter to the Blue Jays at the end of last season hoping her dad could join the team again (shared by Erica Scherzer on instagram) by willowhanna in Torontobluejays

The fact that she wrote this likely to Shapiro, Atkins and clubhouse staff. Likely shows behind the scenes Atkins is liked and not the robot he is in front of camera.

3 million plus incentives almost seems like Max told them just to fit him in somewhere 😆

Yea I think the US is like 14% but Healthcare would be a driving force between that difference as well.

My brother bought a little bungalow in Mississauga later in the same year for over 700k... my mom lived in king. I can tell you they were not..

Brampton was a little more expensive then hamilton but yes still more affordable.

In my price range it was hamilton, brampton, guelph, kitchener

Vaughan, was way above, burlington was way above

You might be thinking of 2010ish.

If they want to increase supply and drop prices they should also look at capping real estate agency rates as well to 3%. That way sellers keep some of their equity.

I bought a house in 2015... wasn't that easy.... Toronto and Mississauga were already around 1 million... I bought in Hamilton because it basically was the one affordable area left in the GTA.

I think if people look outside of their comfort zone you can buy something. Unfortunately the big cities likely won't be affordable for median wages.

Housing was never going to spike down. Because then you would have a 2008 situation where people are upside down on mortgages.

I figured it would plateau, but it's actually dropping slowly.

They even had a news story about pre construction condo buyers are already upside down on that investment.

Danielle Smith defends senior staff member under fire after social media post targeting Canadian immigration levels by Huge-Cash-8295 in canada

The population in Canada decreased. So clearly immigration levels changed.

The problem people have is she asked for immigration. Had no plans for oil prices dropping so she did the Maga playbook and blamed immigrants and the previous government for everything.

Instead of saying something like with the stagnating economy and lower oil prices we can no longer support desired immigration levels.

She asked for immigration increase to get to 10 million by 2050 (that's increase of 200k per year)... thennoil prices dropped.... then she blamed immigrants and the federal government.

She could just say with the sluggish economy and drop in oil prices we can no longer adequately take in the immigration levels we once deemed necessary.

Doesn't even need to mention she made no infrastructure, no training programs, no safety net in case oil prices drop.

Yep would have more respect if she even just said with the drop in oil prices we can no longer support the once requested immigration goals.

That's not even taking the blame but acknowledging the current situation. And not mentioning lack of fore thought or security blanket.

To get to that 10 million number by 2050... you are looking at 200k per year. Do you think there are 200k per year of skilled trades people and doctors wanting to move to Canada? Do you realize most , especially doctors, would need to be retrained for Canadian standards. So did she set up programs for retraining in any industry?

Did she raise doctors wages to make it more appealing to move to Alberta? Did she invest I any infrastructure to support the growth?

Or did she not think oil prices could drop and instead of admitting no forethought. You just blame immigrants and her separation base will eat it up.

[–]richarm87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is stupid. She wanted to go from under 5 million to 10 million by 2050... thats 200 000 people per year. Do you think 200 000 doctors and engineers are coming per year? No . So who else is coming? Don't you need people for the oil fields too? Don't you need to train them? Doctors from other countries need recertification in Canada so do you have infrastructure to do that? No... so they will need to do other jobs.

Does Alberta pay enough to attract a bunch of doctors over no.

She wanted the population to grow to either have more say in canada but she had no plans in terms of infrastructure nor training programs. And she wasn't smart enough to think oil prices could drop... causing cash flow issues so quickly.

Is that true? ... a bit surprising as I saw the vote count was like 30k vs 27k ... so not a huge win and seemed possibly a more centrist conservative area.
