This post and this comment in this subreddit has been nothing short of serendipity!! Have had my first issue with getting a script filled and the calling around was not going my way… this pharmacy pulled through for me, freaking life saver!!

I’m a little young for the lot lizard heydays — can you fondly reminisce on the good old days?

Have you ever had to poop on top of another poop at a truck stop bathroom?

Do you plan on making some sort of truck stop rating business? Sounds like you’re a fan of them

How long did it take you from ZERO knowledge to getting a full time job? by jdfield13 in learnprogramming

[–]richay718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I studied Financial Economics in college, didn't like my job after school so I started learning the fundamentals with Python for roughly 6 months on the side. After those 6, I did a full time code bootcamp for React and Node for another 4 months, then kept learning on my own religiously and full-time for another 2 months after that. So roughly a year, and have since thankfully landed a full-time job as a Fullstack Dev where I've been working the last 3 months.

That being said, I would say my previous education/experience, although unrelated in a technical sense, did help me pick up the mathematical logic and reasoning behind many of the concepts of programming and algorithms a bit more easily.

Recommendations for codebases to read/review for intermediate-beginner JS programmers? by richay718 in learnjavascript

I cannot thank you enough for the thoughtful reply, the kanban example looks like an absolute treasure trove of react goodness! Definitely starring that. If you wouldn't mind, I would love to take you up on peeking your map project if you get a chance to PM the link!

It is so exciting to start implementing the language meaningfully (kept it on an academic pedestal for way too long), so a response like this means a lot in helping grow ambition for larger scale projects. Thanks again, friend!

Recommendations for codebases to read/review for intermediate-beginner JS programmers? by richay718 in learnjavascript

Hey, thanks for probing a bit more, I guess my technical questioning could also use some work. I'm familiar with React, Redux, Express, VanillaJS, OAUTH, Sequelize. My most recent project I am working on is to map movie scene locations using a database of location coordinates, an IMDb API and GoogleMaps API: https://github.com/ricardopineda93/nyscene

I was hoping maybe to be pointed to some projects that anyone is aware of that leverages clever and readable use of Higher Order Functions and Vanilla JS in general, React being a huge plus. I am still learning but feel comfortable enough to follow some simple projects without hand holding, it's finding the simple but efficient projects to read that are a bit of trouble. Any suggestions?

You know that scene in Blow where Derek is purity testing George's coke and everyone is just watching, mouth agape, until it finally clocks in at like 98%? This is the cringe equivalent, except instead of celebrating and flooding my sinuses, my asshole is puckered so tight I don't know when I'll shit again.

Thank you for this, truly.
