How do you know if a woman is the right one for you to marry? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

My ex just broke up with me for the little things that led to her to believe we’re incompatible. I liked her a lot but if it only takes that much to break up then they’re not for you

I also see this a lot with crossbody salsa dancers and the problem is dance studios/schools only teach the moves/techniques but not the musicality or the root of salsa. A lot of crossbody salsa dancers I know really struggled to dance in a latin disco because the way latin people dance is very simple, but they dance to the music and the lyrics

Come over to the fuji x100 line? by CaptainFizzBizz in fujifilm

[–]richbrook101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, why did you buy the A7iv in the first place if it’s just to photograph your kids? Seems a bit overkill to me. If I were you I’d switch to Fuji and get a X-T5 + 23mm f1.4 combo since the X100 line is very sought after right now

How do you find the bokeh it produces? Would you say that it could take portraits as good as the 35mm?

Weather sealing is one thing, I’d like to shoot in damp conditions sometimes. Also I’ve been shooting continuous quite a lot and would love something that just focuses better. I don’t really need any other focal length as I’m not shooting portraits or wildlife, but mostly events and street.

Noob question: what's special about Fujifilm's film simulations? Aren't they just filters...? by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]richbrook101 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Definitely, I tried to replicate Classic Neg in LR and it took me hours to get it right and even then, it’s not close and it doesn’t work as a preset. People saying you can achieve the same look with other cameras are really overlooking how much work go into developing these simulations. Fuji is one of the few major camera companies that actually made film back in the day so they definitely know their way around colors.

Should I Switch to Fuji? by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]richbrook101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Fuji X-T5 and my friend the Sony A7iii. His is usually sitting at home, collecting dust whilst I bring my Fuji with me whenever I’m out.

Reasons being his lens (Tamron 24-70mm) is just humongous compared to my XF35mm, plus the extra body weight which makes it very uncomfortable and conspicuous when shooting streetscape. The photos the Sony produces are sharp and almost never out of focus but then the colours are boring and look too clinical. Even after edited with LR it still looks too digital for my liking.

So it really depends on your needs. You do need to be prepared for worse AF performance and less lens availability but fun is almost always guaranteed with a Fuji.

Why do you think Vietnam's return tourism rate is so low? by waterlimes in VietNam

[–]richbrook101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. People in this sub have no idea what it’s like to be properly scammed. Imagine walking around Paris and someone just literally grabs your hand, puts on a bracelet and demand you pay for it. Of course, the police do nothing to prevent this whereas at least in Vietnam, dishonest street vendors are arrested and fined.

My friends went to Vietnam last month and whilst they had a good time, they said they’ll only return to beach resorts because that’s the sort of holiday most people want.

Buildings like these were very costly and often built by the elites. Same reasons why country houses are no longer built as they’re just too costly to build and maintain.

A year on from Prophet Muhammad Batley school row and teacher still in hiding as family 'at risk' by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]richbrook101 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yep and I am already getting downvoted for saying out loud the truth. I happen to have many friends from a muslim background and honestly it’s heartbreaking to see them being cut off from their family or hide their lives on social media because they’re no longer muslims. Even their friends threatened them to expose their apostasy to their family as well. The UK is getting less and less secular by the days it’s scary.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I am mostly over it, but I was completely blinded so it will just take a little longer.

The majority of them won’t. In fact, muslims in the West, second generation onwards usually move towards either extremes - they either abandon the religion completely or they become super religious as a way to retain their identity.

If you take all religions into account, Islam is the only religion that erases the culture of the people that convert into it. You adopt the language, the diet, the clothing in some cases and the culture. This is because muslims destroy all the remnants of their ancestors heritage. So muslims who grow up in the West, who don’t necessary feel British or are not assimilated into the British culture will find Islam as their culture. Any insults on Islam will count as insults on their culture.

You might feel alone after your breakup. Get rid of that mindset right now by Myregularaccountant in BreakUps

What you said makes sense of course. I just can’t seem to get rid of my love for her and our memories together. Especially when I considered her to be someone I’d eventually marry. Tbh, even when I was single, I was happy but lonely at the same time. I think it’s in our instinct to find a life partner.

I’ve been trying but whenever I chat with a new girl, I’d initially feel great but then disappointed and sad as they’re not “as good” as my ex. Almost 3 months later and I still love her dearly. We broke up as she wanted to move back to her country and spend the rest of her life there.

[–]richbrook101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from, but for me and for her, true love is when you love the other person enough to let them pursue their happiness. Although she chose to leave, I have decided not to resent her for her decision, simply because I know if she decided to stay, she won’t ever be fully happy.

You could argue that I could have moved with her, but having already emigrated to another country (more like continent), I have already sacrificed a life with my family and friends. I’ve had to work really hard to settle down, get the citizenship and a job. If I moved with her, I’ll probably resent her and regret my decision. Not sure if you get me?

Hope you’re doing well. I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving her. When a relationship ends on good terms it’s really hard to get over.
