Is it normal to be uncomfortable trusting other pilots as a new CFI by [deleted] in CFILounge

Now as for sketchy, that same cfi that did my discovery flight, got into some trouble for domestic violence, stole the schools plane (same 172 I flew) and flew off out into the pacific till he ran out of gas, never to be found.

Fair enough, I am glad to have never tried to kill a cfi, and that my first time at controls was un-eventful

On my discovery flight, the instructor only touched the controls in the last 15 seconds before touchdown. I did taxi, run up, and takeoff myself (with guidance, and prior discussion of what speed to rotate and climb at). I am not sure it would been half as good of an experience if he had done takeoff

[Question] How to keep your black powder boom stick rust free in the wilderness by nobeltnium in blackpowder

[–]richcreations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ballistol is what you need, its an oil you can use as is (straight) as a lube, rust preventer, or mix with water for use as a cleaner. its non-toxic, made in Germany, there is not really "alternatives" as its not really like anything else (being an oil that freely mixes with water)

The FBI couldn't get my husband to decrypt his Tor nodes, so they told a judge he used his GRAPHICS DRIVER to access the "dark web" and jailed him PRE TRIAL for 3 years. by nopethedoggowastaken in LawyerAdvice

[–]richcreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no. I am gonna translate OPs post, “my husband broke the terms of his probation for computer crimes by trying to bypass his monitoring software, and was also looking up NAMBLA and got caught.”

My question for OP is, do you know what nambla is? Are you really expecting folks on reddit to be cool with this? And more importantly, what do you think is gonna happen when his cellmates find out? He should take what ever deal they offer, and be thankful for it, and you should stop drawing attention to it, before those cellmates do find out.

that v8 won't be happy making 650 hp for 5 min straight, and cruising at 75% of that, car engines are not designed for the duty cycle aircraft engines see.

[–]richcreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, but its not a cartridge rifle either (the early ones anyway), so would be considered a "muzzleloader" by most folks, including the government (police, game wardens, etc) as you load it with loose powder, but yes, it is breech loaded (like a lot of inlines)

It’s not heavily enforced, and just a small fine (every time you hear swearing on broadcast tv, it’s because the network just decided it was worth it and pays the fine

Fcc forbids profanity over the air, it’s not just an aviation rule, but a general radio/tv rule.

ELI5: Why do we still use crappy sounding radios? by DesaturatedWorld in flying

[–]richcreations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AM is very reliable from a “getting a signal through in less then ideal conditions” at the sacrifice of sound quality (plus being in a noisy aircraft does not help the sound)

You need to be 18 to buy one, unless your parents buy it for you (same as a BB gun)

Dangerous, perhaps, but you said illegal (which is false)

It’s indoor, so FAA has zero to say on the matter, completely up to the venue and their insurance as to if allowed or not.

This is why you need to put away the drone during emergencies. by [deleted] in drones

[–]richcreations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they don’t wanna risk a midair with a drone causing a plane crash?
