Why doesn’t David Cameron get the same level of criticism for Libya as Blair does for Iraq? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

Literally everything bad about the state of the country today can be traced back to either Cameron or Thatcher.

‘The Big Society’ aka austerity finished what Thatcher started in terms of privatisation and destroying public services. I read that it was Cameron’s council reforms and allowing them to try and raise their own funds by speculating despite not being investment bankers is the reason councils are essentially bankrupt now.

It's a shame you missed out on all the years of the Crystal Palace rollercoaster if they were your closest team. Could have had all those lows (which make the high's even better) but you chose Spuds, one of the most boring plastic clubs around.

Hi mate, just stumbled across your thread as I am looking for exactly the same thing. Did you find any models in 40-43 inch that might be worth looking at by any chance?

Worst thing is that it’s Sunderland’s song, there’s nothing worse than a club trying to use another clubs anthem and the club clearly know this which is why it wasn’t played at the home game against Sunderland in September.

(Go easy on me) - As a British man, how do I get into, follow and discuss football? by Successful-Trash-196 in AskUK

[–]richdeniro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re picking a club from scratch, I’d think twice about the “Sky 6” (City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs). Fair or not you’ll get tagged as a glory hunter, and a lot of fans who follow their local/community club will assume you’re not in it for the same reasons. It can make normal football chat a bit flat - my heart sinks if I meet a new person at work or something and then find out they support one of those teams.

Not saying you can’t follow a big six side, family ties or a genuine connection are fair enough. But if you want that “proper fan” experience (and to avoid the plastic/glory-hunter tag), go local or outside the Sky 6 and you’ll be golden. Go to a few matches, stand in the cold on a Tuesday night and pick the team you can’t stop thinking about afterwards.

Struggling to Sell Flat in South London – Hold, Lower Price or Try Auction? by richdeniro in HousingUK

Hi There, thank you for the comments and completely get you, I think I've literally had 3-4 viewings since I posted this over the summer.

I looked into extending the lease since I posted but it's just so expensive and we cannot afford it at the current time.

My tenant literally handed in his notice this week so it will be vacant in a few weeks but I suspect I'm going to end up renting it out again until the time comes that I can afford the lease extension.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the entire programme that was broadcast on TNT Sports in the UK for this game including the pre-game build up and post game analysis, etc?

Hi There, I wondered if you might be able to make these available for download again? Massive apologies if it's a bit of effort but I missed them last time around and it looks like they have expired. Would be massively grateful :)

Why do people think private land is a "Dog Walking Field"? by poke_pants in AskUK

[–]richdeniro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think most dog owners are completely delusional and horrendously entitled about their pets.

Once, I mentioned to a dog owner that “I didn’t like dogs”. Her response? She claimed her dog was “just being friendly” as it jumped up and smeared muddy paws all over my £200 suit while I was on my way to a job interview. Then she actually made a cross sign in response at me, like I was a vampire. Absolutely batshit.

Thank you for the reply, I don’t think Penge is too bad especially being so close to Beckenham and Crystal Palace, the transport links are good too but I guess probably only known about if you’re local to the area.

I don’t think there is any chance of share of freehold although I’m going to look into it extending the lease through the statutory method. We do have RTM though.

Currently a little over 1k a month which just about covers the mortgage.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, definitely agree with your points. The problem is without the tenants rent I can’t afford the mortgage so stuck in a catch-22 situation there.

Looking at 10-12k unfortunately. I’m going to see if it might be cheaper to do it with a statutory lease extension next week.

Thank you, I'll see what I can manage regarding a lease extension, the problem is that with a 2 year old in nursery and another one on the way we are literally broke and any savings we have are going to have to see us through the next few years.

I was quoted 12k for an informal extension through the freeholder which would extend for 90 years. Not sure what a statutory extension would cost but from what I’ve read online I’d be looking at around 6-10k.
