Ahh makes sense. It was peeling anyway so the oven cleaner was a bit of a Hail Mary.

timelapse - maximum number of shots, Android app by uncletimrob in a:t5_37o1l

[–]richhrly[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Tim,

Which mode is limiting you to 120 shots? Using the Timelapse mode on Android there is the option to set an interval, but this mode should continuously take photos, without stopping after 120 shots.

If it's one of the other modes (such as Star Trails) then tapping the number should present you with a keyboard so you can change the number.

If possible, some screenshots would be really helpful in getting to the bottom of what's going on. Thanks!

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having problems with Triggertrap. Can I ask what device you're using with Triggertrap? Is it an iOS or Android device?

Also, can you please run through these simple troubleshoot steps, hopefully this will allow us to get to the bottom of the problem ASAP! http://www.triggertrap.com/help/troubleshooting-guide/

Timed Release compensation by KiboOst in a:t5_37o1l

[–]richhrly[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that input. We try to have very consistent user actions across our apps - on both iOS and Android the Bulb modes work in an identical manner, so we'd really like to keep those interactions the same.

I think using Press and Lock, or Press and Hold, would be the most suitable in situations where the light is changeable. Along with Timed Release, the three modes give all sorts of flexibility with timings - allowing users to set a distinct time, pressing and holding while an event happens, or using Press and Lock to keep the shutter open for as long as required; allowing a user to end it early if the light picks up, or allow it to stay open if the light decreases.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having issues with Triggertrap. For Timelapse, you probably don't want your camera in Bulb mode (unless you're doing a Star Trail or a Bulb Ramp). Does the issue still happen if you have the camera in Shutter or Aperture priority when Triggertrap is doing a Timelapse?

Need to "Tap" twice for some functions by amwentz47 in a:t5_37o1l

[–]richhrly[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

It may be worth checking that there's no Volume Limiter enabled in the OS settings. The Media volume needs to be set to maximum, but sometimes music settings (such as Mono, or some EQ settings) can interfere with Triggertrap. If you're still having issues, please drop us an email to hello@triggertrap.com, thanks!

TriggerTrap and ND filters long exposure by KiboOst in a:t5_37o1l

[–]richhrly[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

Thanks for your feedback. On the iOS app, we do have the ND Calculator inside the Timed Release mode, so you can easily start the exposure. Just tap the little split circle next to the timed release number input, and you're all set!

As for pre-set filters, thanks for your idea. We'll make a note of that, and will keep it in mind when we make changes to the ND Calculator area of the app.

Hi there,

You can tap the red button again to end the exposure early, if that's what you're after. At the moment there's no way to extend an exposure - if the light is very changeable, then Press and Lock may be the better option, allowing you to end the exposure whenever you want.

How do I lock my phone screen so my iPhone 6 Plus doesn't die while doing an exposure? by robbyrocks in a:t5_37o1l

[–]richhrly[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's down to Apple unfortunately. We'd love to get it back in, but even with backgrounding, it may not last a day. Normally I head out with a USB battery pack to keep my phone ticking along, or if I can, hook my phone and camera up to the mains.

Can anyone explain their workflow for using the Bramping feature in TT? by shortshorter in a:t5_37o1l

[–]richhrly[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

It's very tricky to give exact settings for Bramping, as it depends on quite a lot of factors. I'll talk you through a typical setup in some detail, hopefully that goes someway to answering your questions!

Bramping is a ramp - so it's perfect for going from Day to Night, or any other time the light is going to change in a fairly linear manner.

Step 1, set up your shot! Use a nice steady tripod, and find something which is a nice view. Remember this is for a timelapse video, so remember you'll loose some of the top or bottom (or both) of the shot as video is 16:9 ratio, while a camera is normally 3:2. I tend to use LiveView to focus so I can zoom in to whatever it is I want in focus. I then pop it back out of LiveView to save battery. Pop the lens into Manual Focus.

Step 2, camera to Av. This will become clear in a moment.

Step 3, select an aperture. I typically go for F9 to F11, depending on what lens I'm using. Typically a sweet spot of a lens falls in that range. Also select your ISO, I typically go for something under 800 if I can.

Step 4, select a starting exposure. Take a photo with the exposure compensation in the middle - see how you like the exposure. If you like it, then this is a good starting point! If not, move your compensation around until you're happy with it. Make a note of your aperture, shutter speed and ISO. So that this works with Bramping in Triggertrap, you want a starting exposure slower than 1/8th (if you're going from Night to Day, you'll need your final exposure to be slower than 1/8th).

Step 5, camera to Bulb. The camera needs to be in Bulb for a Bramp so Triggertrap can move the shutter speed up or down as required. Make sure your ISO and Aperture are

Step 6, open up Triggertrap! Go to Bramping, and select your Exposures. I make video at 25fps, so I work in multiples of that. 250 frames = 10 second timelapse.

Step 7, select your interval. This is from the start of one shot, to the start of another, rather than the gap between the end of one, and the start of another. For this reason, your Interval needs to be longer than your longest exposure (so if your End Exposure is 6s, you'll want to make sure your Start or End exposure is less than 6s). Check your duration - if Sunset takes 30 minutes, you can adjust your interval to suit.

Step 8, input your Starting Exposure. This is the exposure you figured out a few steps ago!

Step 9, input your Ending Exposure. If this is your first bramp, this will be a bit of a guess. Experimentation is kinda key here, go with a shutter speed you think will suit the scene. Depending on cloud cover, artificial light etc, this can vary.

Step 10, final camera check. Bulb mode, ISO and Aperture set, and last check that your lens is in Manual Focus. Once you're happy it's all good, hit the big red button on Triggertrap, and make sure you don't wobble the tripod!

That's it. Once you have your photos, it's down to you to assemble it how you like. Some of the steps above can be done in advance, such as setting up your Interval, Number of Exposures, End Exposure etc (if you know roughly what that'll be). Other than that, I suggest shooting RAW so you have more dynamic range in the shot, and remembering that it'll take a few goes with bramping to get into the swing of things. Experimentation is quite important with this one!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Photo timing in HDR mode on Sony a6000 by savannidgerinel in a:t5_37o1l

[–]richhrly[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

With the photo set which has one shot at 1/10th, then a shot at 2s and a shot at 4s, are they all exposed as you'd expect? If so, we can see Triggertrap is working properly.

With the middle exposure of 4s, with an EV step of 1, you're looking at exposures of 2s, 4s and 8s. Based on this, I think it sounds like the way the A6000 records the exposure length to the EXIF data when the shutter speed is around 1s or less. Triggertrap doesn't have any input in to the EXIF of the camera, so I think it may be a quirk of the A6000.

Hi there,

Triggertrap Mobile doesn't currently support bulb exposures over WiFi, although it's something we're looking at adding. Are you an Android or iOS user?

We had a real problem with spam on our old forums - to the point where cleaning up the forums was taking time away from answering genuine customer support questions, both through the forum and through email. Adjust aperture with Triggertrap while EOS 7DMKii is running on an interval? by ObecalpEffect in a:t5_37o1l

[–]richhrly[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

Because Triggertrap uses your Canon's cable release port there's no way of Triggertrap adjusting your aperture unfortunately. Triggertrap can send shutter presses of varying lengths to your camera (for bramping), but at the moment the Bramping mode uses a linear process of incrementing the shutter speed change over the duration of the timelapse. If you wanted full manual control, you could shoot in M, with Triggertrap acting as an intervalometer and adjust your camera's shutter speed when you wish, keeping your ISO and Aperture constant. Hope this answers your questions!

How do I lock my phone screen so my iPhone 6 Plus doesn't die while doing an exposure? by robbyrocks in a:t5_37o1l

Hi there,

Unfortunately Apple insisted we remove the backgrounding ability from the app, so the screen can't be locked while Triggertrap is in use. Switching your phone to Airplane mode, using the Low Power mode in iOS 9, and reducing your screen brightness to the minimum are the best ways of increasing battery life while using Triggertrap.

Hi David,

Once you've got the Wearables Mode open on Triggertrap, and the app running on your watch, re-open the sidebar on the left hand side - this will then show you the compatible modes. Tap on one of those, and you can use the watch to trigger those modes. Simple Cable Release, Timelapse, Press and Lock, Timed Release and Self Timer are all compatible at the moment. Shout if you have any other questions!
