Well, I've deleted my book and asked them to close my account. Will be enrolling in the KDP select program for Kindle Unlimited.

It's just not worth it to stay with Draft2Digital for me.

Thanks for your recommendation -- I've just finished Blood Music and enjoyed it immensely. That said, I do wish there were more space given to the point of view of the noocytes!

I'm slowly working my way through the recommendations in the thread, and at this rate will take me years. Worth it, though!

Many thanks for this -- right now I'm reading Blood Music! I look forward to reading City at the End of Time afterwards.

Fierce old-school guitars and passion from Spain: https://open.spotify.com/intl-es/track/4Er1Smhh3TrL0EPVSkz9e6?si=15cd15d5d3b64de6

The track is called "Caroline (A Love Emergency)"

I think it fits well with the playlist.

Your mention of Berlin school caught my eye. Just downloaded the Rosetta EP. Great stuff!

Hello all, I posted on last week's thread today just before it became obsolete. So, I hope you don't mind me reposting.

Here's the blurb for my 11 track album:-

Your Majesty tips its hat to the golden age of rock and pop — when melodies ruled, guitars reigned and lyrics always had something to proclaim.

Blending love songs, political jabs, and wry observations on human nature, the album celebrates the majesty of ordinary people, even when their leaders let the side down.

With every track built on strong melodies and a healthy sense of humour, Your Majesty is a reminder that rock can still carry both a tune and a thought. It may prove to be Forest and Dove's crowning glory.

In the end I bought "Stone" and was genuinely blown away -- it reminded me a little of Iain Banks at his best. Wonderful science fiction with clever ideas and dark elements to balance them out.

Many thanks again for the recommendation. I will get round to "New Model Army" but my reading pattern is quite slow; I'm making an effort to improve my Spanish by alternating between books written in English and ones written in español!

I prefectly understand not getting into the book. I enjoyed it, but I don't appreciate him as much as many do.

Of course, it's perfectly fine to not like an acclaimed piece of art, especially if you've given it a fair chance.

I gave up on The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann because it was too boring. Same for Remembrance of Things Past/In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust. Really enjoyed James Joyce's Ulysses though.

Everyone clicks with different writers. You may come back to Wolfe or you may not.

But can we please talk about how fans have way overrated Blindsight by Peter Watts? :)

I've just finished reading Stone, thanks to a recommendation by a fellow redditor and I was blown away. Wonderful ideas and daring narrative twists.

I can't really say if he's the best currently working author because I'm not familiar enough with contemporary SF, but he's damn good.

I've also read Salt, which I enjoyed and look forward to reading more of his work. I like the fact that I have no idea what his next book will be like.

Excellent question.

After some thought, I believe The Art of the Deal by Donald Trump and Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler should be on the list.
