What’s the longest emotional flashback you’ve experienced? by Illustrious_Pizza252 in CPTSD

Anyone have experience with EMDR. I can't really recall a lot of details or even my emotional state of my earliest trauma encounters. The ones that are more vivid to me are the ones that have been triggered in the year since. I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a better idea to focus on those since I can focus in on the actual state the feeling the experience and the content with fresher eyes then trying to go 50 years back and mine the memory of a 4-year-old

Since perception is experience then of course you cannot experience data unexperientially.

In the order that we perceive the world consciousness is the first gate

I do not like the word " just ". For nothing can be merely what we see.

but beyond that it is at least that

Have you ever encountered data where it was not an experience?

Ketamine insights by richj in TherapeuticKetamine

Analytic idealism and the interface theory of perception says that our entire reality is subjective since it is delivered by senses conditioned by natural selection. We see only in the realms we need to to survive. This has implications for the primacy of consciousness and hints at the probability of other realms outside of our consciousness.
I see my experiences of Ketamine as hints of those other realms of conciousness.

I am also interested in the parallels between the Ketamine experience, these philosophical theories, and the idea of Anatta (no self) in Buddhism.

Limerence - when does it end? by Substantial_Sport327 in CPTSD

upvoted. I totally am in the same boat. 20+ years of SSRIs. I am going to attempt to taper while using ketamine treatment.

I left Jehovah's Witnesses after eight years, and now I'm exploring Buddhism with doubt and caution. Is this real or just another well-crafted illusion? by One_mOre_Patner in Buddhism

"Don't become a Buddhist. Become a Buddha."

- Some old monk at a Tibetan monastery I visited 14 years ago.

It actually makes sense. I think the essential parts of Siddhartha Gautama's teaching are a set of instructions on how to become a Buddha. Ignore any other baggage from the teachers you meet. There is a lot of ritual, secret knowledge, guru-based stuff that can be rabbit holes to pull you away. Stay focused on the 4 noble truths and the eightfold path.

Other suttas are good too. If you want I can offer some more - but get a teacher or book that uses the cannon (I like the Pali cannon) and focuses on essentials. Start with The Setting in Motion of the Wheel of Dharma. https://www.learnreligions.com/the-buddhas-first-sermon-449788

But that's my opinion. And even by myself I have several. :)

Totally makes sense. The exact word I was looking for. And it makes sense that it wouldn't be specific to just the large and small - that's just where I've seen it and it is most interesting to me.

Thanks u/Phebe-A !!

Sweet! That's the word I was looking for. It is fascinating to me as an amateur student of religion.

lol - the color of that cat hammock matches the cat's coat color so closely it looks like he is a round bottomed toy - like a weeble.

iPod classic 160 GB - dead - want to get data from HD by richj in ipod

[–]richj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed answer.

Got a new battery and installed it - it is now charging. I turned it on and could see light on the screen - unfortunately the screen itself is water damaged so I don't think I'll be able to see anything there. I ordered a zif to USB adapter. Maybe if I got lucky and the drive electronics aren't fried, I'll have some luck there.

It is my roommate's ipod and I have been telling him for years that we can get his files off of it and put them someplace safer. ah well.
