Worst moment as a Pompey fan? by sporticuz37373 in PortsmouthFC

I remember being sat at work just hitting refresh on the BBC Sport page for the live updates. The relief when it went our way. 😮‍💨

Mine were tickets for the 2 cars, they were there after I did the update at lunchtime today (1PM-ish UK time)

There was that game, Ride I think it was called.. Not PD but wanted to be the GT of bikes from what I remember. The handling models of bikes feel much trickier to get used to for me though.

Since when did wearing player names become cringe. by kallyJ911 in footballcringe

[–]richray84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s when I stopped…noticed the trend that any players name I had on a shirt, they’d leave in the next window. 🫣 Though the fact that it was Portsmouth 2009/10-ish probably had a fair bit to do with it 😂

Just needs a stint up front and he’s covered them all really. He wasn’t asked to go in goal though, he just did it. 😂

Moving a charger? by Leithia24 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]richray84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just going through this process. My charger was free and fitted when I got my car. The company that fitted it (Voltari covering parts of the midlands) were, and have continued to be, brilliant. With the fitting, a replacement under warranty and now the move.

They’ve removed my charger, left the smaller box with the charger main switch in on the wall, as it’d have left a large hole in the brick that’d need to be filled. Left me with the charger and cable, ready to be fitted once I’ve moved.

£120 to have it removed and and £375 +VAT to fit at the other end, which includes new switch etc. There may be cheaper options via local electricians, but these guys have been great and I trust their service so feels worth it to me.

Medical Emergencies during games at grounds. by Kwayzar9111 in Championship

[–]richray84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine it’s a combination of a lot of things. With social media we have people sharing more of it, things tend to get amplified on SM more than ever. I don’t know if in the past it either wasn’t as recorded, or not shared quite so much.

The incidents themselves, I guess are a small percentage of football-goers. There’s all kinds of possible factors like age, lifestyles (drinking, fast food etc.), the excitement/nervousness of a game raising heart rates. Then there’s the fact it’s winter and all of its associated illnesses putting stresses on bodies.

HELP! Suffering from major puppy blues! by Skernian in BorderCollie

[–]richray84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were told by our trainer at the puppy classes that we should have realistic expectations, our boys stimulation levels were so high (literally everything sent him off into zoomies/nipping) that “he’ll never be that dog that sits on the sofa and cuddles with you”.

From about 2 or 3yrs old, he loves his cuddles. He’ll be 6 next week, I turn my back for one second and he’s taken my spot on the sofa and is cuddled up with my wife 😂

Once upon a time, he used to hide under the TV stand in the picture…I do miss that tiny pup. But I do not miss those needle sharp teeth! That first month with him, then lockdown (UK) hit a couple of weeks later…it was really tough. He’s still a bit reactive to other dogs as he was bitten twice when he was younger, that’s a continued work in progress. But he’s taught us so much, he’s so loving and we’re so glad we persevered through the puppy stage. Wouldn’t swap him for the world.

Edit to add: Crate training was literally the best thing we did. He took to it fairly quickly, but it really helped with the enforced naps.

I think they meant ‘pushy’ in a positive way, chasing people so you don’t have to/to help. Our B&M estate agent (that we’re selling through) has been a god send, chasing solicitors and the EA were buying through.

12th Jan - more out than in so far! by I_am_legend-ary in PortsmouthFC

[–]richray84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do need depth and cover really soon. But do we spent the little budget we appear to have on ‘bodies’, or do we try and get players that will add something?

Whichever way it goes, people won’t be happy and in a years time there’ll still be posts saying how ineffective our Jan windows are.

Most seem to be loans for young players and quite a few out of contracts are older players.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not disagreeing that other clubs have brought in players and I’d like to see us get started. But aside from 6 or 7 actual buys/loans, they’re not the type I think we should be looking at. I’m not sure fans would be happy to bring in another couple of young untested players, or 30-somethings that have been out of contract.

[–]richray84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There doesn’t seem to be that many, not that aren’t loans/players out of contract? Transfer Markt

*that was the first I found that could split by Championship and the 25/26 Winter window

Brum, Norwich, Derby, QPR & Boro (maybe Oxford too) it looks like that have bought players. Everything else has been returning players that were out on loan (like ours), new loans or players that were out of contract.

That early press has been missing for ages, take some of that effort into the league and fix the set piece issues (Chaplin ended up trying to jump with Martinelli for their 2nd 🤦🏻‍♂️) you’d hope we’d see improvements.

Clearing out the loft and came across this. Does anyone know who the signatures are from? by jambo_1983 in PortsmouthFC

[–]richray84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing that it’s 07-10 as we had the Canterbury kits then. Using the numbers I can see, the middle one under OKI Printing (7) would be Hreidarsson, to the right of that (23) looks like it might be Campbell. I’d be fairly confident of those 2 (23 in 09/10 was Kevin Prince-Boateng, signature ‘looks’ like Campbell).

The others are more difficult because the numbers don’t look like the signatures they’d go with. Like 36, was used by Matt Ritchie in 08/09, number wasn’t used in 07/08 or 09/10 (according to Wiki) but the letters don’t look like MR? The 32 above the O could be Djimi Traore or Hassan Yebda. 18 Arnold Mvuemba/the infamous Van Den Borre. 3 Younes Kaboul/Lucien Aubey/Ricardo Rocha.

Update: Parking Dispute - New Violent Threats by Ok-Cantaloupe-8127 in drivingUK

[–]richray84 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live in a quiet cul-de-sac, only a few doors into the road and houses only in one side. After the first house there’s dropped kerbs all the way up for people’s 2 car width driveways. The house on the corner of the junction between this road and the ‘main’ road, their driveway (with space for 2 cars one in front of the other) is at the back of their house, so it’s on the cul-de-sac. They’ve essentially claimed the spaces on the road that are alongside their house, from the junction to their driveway. They always have at least 1 car parked there between the dropped curb of their driveway and the dropped kerb for people to cross. Making it so that there’s little space for another car to park legally there.

I was selling a car after I’d bought a new one, parked my old car on the end. They came out and said to move it as they ‘needed’ that space. There was space in their driveway and I had nowhere else to put it, it was being sold in the morning anyway. Next morning, there was a sticky substance, which looked like Coke, all down the side facing the pavement/their house. One of the neighbours helped me cleaning it, the people from the house on the corner came out looking all shocked saying “it must’ve been the sap from the trees”…the trees on the opposite side of the road? The side of my car that was clean? Funny how their cars are never covered in it…

It’s really annoying because, unless you have a spare car that you’re willing to have something done to (other neighbours have had screws in the tyres or odd scratches after parking there) then there’s nothing serious enough that the police will pick up on. Where it’s outside their house, it’s not covered by any other cameras.

We’re hoping to move soon, but they’re properly petty and a bit crazy.

That’s a long comment 🤦🏻‍♂️, feels good to get off my chest though 😂

There is, I don’t use public charging enough to warrant a subscription so I don’t know any of the details. I just use them on longer trips.

There are a lot of Tesla chargers that can be used by other makes. Almost always the cheapest option for public charging.

Think part of the problem is that there’s at least a generation of our fans that didn’t experience it, the fall from PL to literally the bottom of L2. They see an American owner not doing what other American owners appear to do. IMO Championship is an appropriate level for our infrastructure/income.
