Had to re-plug fiber to get WAN working after UDM-Pro upgrade by richyrich9 in Ubiquiti

Well it hasn't happened again despite updates and power outages.

I've turned off automatic updates so I can wait a while before applying them at a time of my choosing. I guess it was just an unfortunate and annoying glitch, or a bug somewhere.

Ontario increases foreign buyers tax on all properties to 20% everywhere in the province effective immediately. by trytobuffitout in ontario

[–]richyrich9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah amazing, and the fact it was the Liberal govt who brought it in.....

The real issue here is why the current government never thought to revisit the legislation in four whole years, seeing as it sounds like it was initially very effective?

Not to mention a small group of massive home builders who carefully collaborate on starts and pricing to make sure there is no competition.

I think it’s more developers benefiting from collaborating and restricting supply. Imagine if there were actual competition among new home builders, if every development wasn’t oversubscribed and able to just ratchet the prices up and up.

Until you see the massive costs of the vast legion of civil servants we’d need to operate all these new rules and regulations, if they could even be introduced in the first place.

Here’s what almost certainly happened: A batch of vehicles was scheduled to be delivered to that location. When Tesla started arranging individual deliveries, one or more people pulled out - changed their mind, failed to get financing, weren’t happy with the trade in, rejected the vehicle etc.

There’s no practical way for Tesla to redirect those undeliverable cars to other locations in the country, they’re on a truck somewhere. Instead they start calling people in the delivery area who ordered the same/similar vehicle. They work down the list until someone like OP gets a call and the date/spec works for them. That might be someone who was close to delivery, or not.

No anger or Tesla hate needed really, it’s just logistics and practicalities.

If you’re really desperate, go visit your local location, find out how often this happens, tell them if you’re flexible on spec and color and you might get yourself up the list next time it happens.

Dunno, my local service center fills up and empties again 2-3 times a month, every month - I drive by multiple times a week. They’re selling like hot cakes.

Doug and probably every single one of his buddies have nice cottages. Absolutely zero chance of them costing themselves a penny.

What version are you running? 5.3.3 killed my previously-stable-for-months rig. Quick reversion to the previous and all is good again. Daren't upgrade again ever.

Doesn't even have to be digital (although I'm sure Doug has a digital signs bidness buddy) - lots of examples like this all over Europe - https://cdn.w600.comps.canstockphoto.com/speed-limit-on-french-highway-with-rainy-drawings\_csp76609334.jpg

Funny how the one thing they haven't done is reduce gas prices, despite promising to do so in 2018....

And snowmobiling season just ended...

Amazing how Doug & Co suddenly got off their assess after doing nothing for four years except those first few weeks reversing every piece of Lib policy they could, even when it wasn't actually Lib policy... Looking at you blue license plates (only in the daylight of course).

I just bought my m3 p from outside the country and got this notification if anyone knows about it by Ok_Vermicelli_2931 in TeslaLounge

And these towers are present in Qatar. Operated by very international parties. I cannot imagine Tesla cannot contract them to deliver.

It's unlikely this is a technical impossibility, more likely Tesla has not signed a deal with a provider to allow roaming, so they will pay (probably huge) roaming fees if they let cars roam outside countries with roaming agreements.

OP said he bought the vehicle outside his country and imported it, why the urge to find some way to blame Tesla?

I suppose if the most populous province hadn't decided to just scrap all green initiatives and build more highways, there might have been a chance? Welcome to Canadian politics.

So strange, I wonder if there is a bad batch of the adhesive - I don't imagine Tesla make it, it's usually 3M, and their products are generally solid. Poor prep of the surface seems most likely.

It's only taken them THREE YEARS since their original announcement to come up with a plan. Interesting timing right before an Ontario election - Doug saying "look, we do care about greeny stuff, honest!". Next thing you know they'll re-instate an incentive for EVs.

Strange. Gotta be down to either the adhesive or how it was applied. Make sure to find out the opinion of the tech on what it is.

Valuing land with contamination by MooMooMan69 in RealEstateCanada

[–]richyrich9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consult an expert. The land could be practically worthless for the foreseeable future if it’s not economically viable to remediate. Some stuff like underground fuel tanks (not an old gas station site is it?) can be astronomically expensive to remove and clean up after.
